These transfers are ridiculous, just going to push Real, Barca, Juve more towards the Superleague idea. German football seems more ethical, don’t know if Bayern would take the bait but are Dortmund and other German clubs happy being nursery clubs?

The rest of the Bundesliga have little choice because of Bayern's financial might and pull for players. Their primary transfer policy is to sign the best players in their domestic rivals' teams, and it works a treat.

These transfer fees are not going to push those teams anywhere. Those teams are the ones that drive the market value up and up and up, coupled with the TV deals they all get. PSG obliterated the world transfer record to sign Neymar from Barcelona and from that point on, fees have skyrocketed from the already inflated place they were in.

Grealish will be the 6th most expensive football transfer of all time if it goes through, but almost the entirety of the top 25 biggest fees ever have occurred in the past decade. Only Zidane and Ronaldo going to Real Madrid in that 25 happened earlier than 2013.

So you’ll think they’ll be happy being the poor relations?
The super league is coming just like winter is! The Super league lost the battle but will win the war, it’s inevitable unfortunately.

For someone that spends half his game sitting on the deck  after kicked in the air time after time , I suppose he won’t be complaining. I don’t think he even wares shin pads !!

The super league is coming just like winter is! The Super league lost the battle but will win the war, it’s inevitable unfortunately.

The poor relations to whom? The Premier League? The ten most expensive transfers of all time currently belong to the following (as paying clubs):

1. PSG
2. PSG
3. Barcelona
4. Atletico Madrid
5. Barcelona
6. Barcelona
7. Manchester United
8. Real Madrid
9. Juventus
10. Real Madrid

The only Premier League signing in there is Pogba to Man Utd, whereas three of them involve PL clubs selling to big European sides (Coutinho, Hazard and Bale). If anything this is a Premier League side, Man City, spending more to try and catch up to Barca, Real and Juve by going big for Grealish and Kane.

Bayern Munich meanwhile, their only signing in the top 50 most expensive ever is for Lucas Hernandez, signed from Atletico. They have a monopoly on the German league and routinely sign the best players from other sides quite cheap. Case in point, they are in talks to sign Marcel Sabitzer from Leipzig for far less than Grealish is going to City for. Robert Lewandowski, the world's best centre forward, was signed from their chief rivals Dortmund for absolutely nothing.

Historically Barca and more so Real are the biggest spenders but are both in financial disarray, Barca over a billion in debt and Real not far behind. They need massive investment and massive investors obviously want a super league as it makes financial sense. Uefa and Fifa can try and block it all they want but money always prevails over law, ethics or anything.

I liked something said the other day. To balance the deals in line wth FFP City will sell Bernardo Silva to New York City Blues for £250m

They’ve already raised a lot through player sales and Silva will end up being sold to Athletico for around £50m as well. They will balance the books within the realms of FFP.

They have already made about £60 million through selling a few fringe players and their sell on fee from the Sancho deal

U spend what u earn and that’s the way of life , if they sent more money down the leagues it would only push players wages up and we would be no better off as a club for it

Domestically yes, internationally it depends.  But even then it's reclaimed anyway in the vat return.

If Grealish played for us, what's the lowest offer you'd accept for him?

Probably £1.3 million paid over 4 years

Villas chairman has posted a good video explaining things.

He signed a new contract last year on the provision there would be a 100m release clause and if it was met by a champions league club, villa would let him go. Villa didn’t think anyone would meet it at the time.

Said it was a very emotional meeting when he told them his decision to go.

Seems a good guy Grealish

the signing is an insurance policy for when Sterling leaves (contract negotiations apparently going nowhere) -- remember he has had a very poor season with City.

As for the 100 million he's worth far more than Kane in the CLH World  - personally have never rated Kane believe it or not.  - he's just not right at the moment - he's played his "transfer outbursts" all wrong

Just checked Grealish's dad out (and to reminise about his beard !! )and he played 11 times for City in 86-87

It's fine Man City owners can claim it all back through charity write offs anyway.

Kane was the signing City needed. This transfer doesn't make it so they move even further from the rest of the league. Grealish is good. City's whole midfield is though.
