Alick Jeffrey was younger than Harrison when he made his debut.

Quite a few youngsters under Bremner. Wouldn't be surprised if Ian was 16 on his debut.

I think Ian was 17 when he made the first team.
He was 16 when he made his debut in April 1980 he was 17 in the August of that year. He came on off the bench V Bournemouth, Billy Bremner played himself on that day which made it quite a memorable fixture.

Wasn't there tonight but it sounds like a good effort from the boys. No shame in that.

Relegation season to the conference I was in the under 16s the season before but left for barnsley. But a lot of the lads I played with for the under 16s played in the first team the year after, Debenham, donelly, messer etc so they will have been 16-17

Is this the weakest starting XI we've fielded in a "proper" match since we were in the Conference?

I recall us losing 1-0 to Yeovil at home around Christmas, maybe in L1 but certainly at BV and under Penney - think we released Adam Hughes the week before then re-signed him for one game and ended up with him and Uros Predic in midfield. Would love to know what the rest of the XI was that day but google hasn't been able to help my spotty memory on that one.

I think the team was

Budtz,
Fenton, Foster, Albrighton, McDaid
Ravenhill, Hughes, Mulligan
Guy, LFW, McIndoe

Subs used: Thornton, N.Roberts, Offiong

IMHO stronger than tonight

Oh definintely looking at that - seemed a real low point at the time that it stuck with me!
DN
The one you're thinking of was a 0-1 defeat at home to Blackpool.
Warrington
Mulligan
Foster
Fenton
Ryan
Hughes
Predic
Thornton
Forte
Heffernan
Neil Roberts.

That was poor but 7-8 of them would walk into tonight's side.

The lineup when we played Ipswich at home or maybe palace when wickham scored a hatrick?
I remember seeing our lineup and lumping on them to win and I think we lost 4-5 nil

We lost 0-6. The team that night would get a cricket score against our side tonight.

Woods
Chambers
O'Connor
Hird
Friend
J Mills
Wilson
Keegan
Oster
Shiels
Coppinger

What about Swansea away that season (Feb 2011) at the height of our injury crisis. We lost 3-0 and didn’t have a shot on goal all game. Lineup was…

01 Sullivan
03 Friend
05 Thomas (Kilgallon 73)
20 Mills
21 Hird (Webster 86)
14 Moussa
15 Wilson
16 Oster
22 Shiels
30 Keegan (Souza 86)
19 Euell

If my memory serves me correctly we picked either Euell or Moussa up at the services on the way there as we were that desperate for players and they’d just joined on loan.

Still bears no comparison tonight's starting side.

Half of tonight's outfield side (Greaves, Blythe, Barlow, Horton and Williams) have a grand total of 16 career league starts between them.

So young Ethan must be 16 years and 119 or 120 days old if he is now the third youngest.

Three days later we went to Norwich on a Tuesday night and managed a draw...they scored an own goal!

Great days!

It was a poor game at Norwich and I don’t think that any Rovers fan expected us to get anything after going one down.
Delia Smith was in Wetherspoons pre-match.
