Massive win today.

Thought we were going on to win that 4-0 when we were 3-0 up.

Should have known better as do not think this season we will have many if any comfortable wins.
We are our own worst enemies. We were farting around with the ball in our own half and you could see what was going to happen.

We must learn to game manage a lead better than that.

Probably trying to control the game by keeping possession, Campsall.

It's a fine line to tread, do it with confidence and authority and you're away. If you're unsure and on the back foot it invites pressure.

Just want to say a massive thank you to Rovers for not only supplying 3 points today but for actually providing an afternoon of sustained entertainment for perhaps the first time this season. Really, really enjoyed the game today and Cheltenham played their part second half too. First half they were utterly abysmal. Easily the worst side i've seen this season based on their first half showing, but second half they got the bit between their teeth at times and arguably they could have won this game on the chances they had.

Overall though a massively improved showing and we dug in and got the win in the bag which is what matters.

Dahlberg again saved the pen and also made some good saves to keep us in it.

Cukur is an absolute waste of space. Young lad. Gets 15 minutes and can't be arsed to even run or chase down their defenders. Disgrace. Not needed at the club that lad IMO. Get rid asap.

Olowu came in and did a really good job.

Anyone know where Taylor was today?

Not sure if we were made to look better than we were due to Cheltenham affording us time and space that the likes of Wycombe would never have and them also being dire first half but it certainly was a lot better performance than we've been used to this season and we'll have a great chance of beating Cambridge on Tuesday playing in the same manner.

Still lots of work to do but our home form is keeping us within touching distance of the pack.

Well done today Richie, Noel and all the players (Cukur aside).

Someone asked Taylor before the game when he'd be back and he shrugged his shoulders and said no idea.

A win to be celebrated, we certainly needed it. But we definitely made hard work of it after a very good first 50 mins. We appeared to lose all shape after that and on another day we wouldn’t be walking off with a win.

Desperately need to follow this up with a win on Tuesday and get some confidence back in the team.

That’s very harsh on Curkur CDH
There was a reason he was sub. I am assuming it was because he had put in a hell of a shift at Gillingham which he did. Thought he was excellent on Tuesday.
Or because he was carrying an injury or a mixture of both which I suspect is the reason he looked vey leggy when he came on today.

To call him a waste of space is quite frankly unbelievable. He is 18 yrs old and needs game managing.
He would not be on Watford’s books or be a Turkish U21 international if he was a waste of space.

Bogle maybe fits that description, are you confusing him with Curkur?

Cukur put in a hell of shift on tuesday?!! Are you sure?

He showed us a lot more than he has done previously at Gillingham but it was hardly dazzling stuff.

When i see players like Galbraith putting himself all over the place and then i see Cukur ambling around, what i see one player who will make a decent career in the game and one who won't.

Weve p!$$ed a comfortable win up the wall. Lets be absolutely real. 3pts is the most important obviously but lets not deny we had cigar in hand to allow them 2 which is shocking

Good result - glad we held on

Time wasting is terrible to watch - remember Wycombe only last week ? They were like kids. Goalkeeper was called forward to take e Free Kick in front of dug outs. He walked slowly and when he got 5 yards from Ball Ainsworth waved his arms indicating NO, not you - get back and so he did.

It was childish and probably a rehearsed "move". As was the Keeper swapping where he takes the GK from - puts it down on one side then decides he will "amble" to other end of 6 yd box. The rule makers decided to let teams take GKs from either side to speed up the restart - and it has done exactly the opposite

I vowed never to say this again but we need a fixed 30 minutes per half which is an average of what a ball in any game is in.

There would still be fake injuries to take pressufe off defending sides but the clock would at least be stopped - and teams would still kill time heading for corner flag - but give them a shove concede a free kick and stop the clock

Points are brilliant and if we follow it up with another win the fact we nearly threw it away will be forgotten. As others have said the match provided entertainment as well which is what it's all about in the end.

However going from 3-0 to winning the game thanks to a penalty save shows why we're going to struggle this year. We're so poor at the back we need to score 3 to give us a chance of winning but so poor up front we won't often score 2 in a game.

Hopefully this marks a turning point the goals at least will hopefully give the forwards confidence. Not sure were to start with the defence however it was a bit makeshift today so some lack is probably due.

Today reminded me a bit of the Nottingham Forest Boxing Day match in a way, except that we held a 4-0 lead in that game so had an extra bit of cushion.
We had a spectacular recovery after that game.

Really hope this is the case and it's good we play Cambridge next rather than a team at the top to give us a better chance of building on it. Not discounting Cambridge they are the type of physical team we struggle against

After seeing the highlights, both conceded goals were poor - the first Alfie should have closed down and should never have scored from there and Galbraith (I think) lost Williams for the second.

Dickos, surely it's not negative for anyone to criticise our game management and defence today, both of which were poor.

I'm not so sure.

So often football isn't just entertaining. It's just desperation, or anxiety.

No. What I think football is, is a story, a narrative. It can be brilliant, it can be grim. For me, you have to have bad times to appreciate the good.

And when bad times come along, then you have to grin and bear it.

The players are not fit enough, ran out of steam after 65mins, and then the panic button was pressed and headless chicken mode kicked in
I wasn’t there today, but was it not a case of Cheltenham, with nothing to lose, throwing the kitchen sink at us for the final 25 minutes?

Also bear in mind, this was the first time we’ve played with 3 at the back due to our ‘crazy’ injury run which was compounded on 8 minutes when we lost Tommy Rowe.

It was a game we dare not lose, & true whilst the gloss was somewhat taken off the result by conceding 2 goals when being 3-0 ahead, a win is a win…..& this one was massive for all concerned.

We now go into Tuesday’s game in a totally different frame of mind.

It was like we had turned a tap off ....................

we were all doing ok .some far better than others but far superior than we have ever been
there was heart and zeal and then it happened ......
The tap was turned off and ohhhhhhhhhhhhh hell
most of us could see points going down the drain ...

i even thought our goalkeeper was pushing it after he had just been booked for time wasting by moving the ball to his right ........oh no here comes a second yellow within a minute ............boy was he more than lucky on that

the guts had gone out of them the effort the crap was back
all gave a sigh of relief at the full time whistle

I thought the defence was as good today as I’ve seen it, Joseph is a very good player but never had a kick, the young lad at left back was very good and Galbraith was outstanding.
Anderson and Williams were both good today also.

When you’re near the bottom then we were always going to panic a bit near the end.
It’s fine to point out things that didn’t go wrong but only talking about today negatively is wrong.
We were very good for most of it

So many aspects of this performance need to be examined by management if we are to benefit and build on it.

This is where the manager and his team come in.

If we don’t progress and improve after this an opportunity will have been missed. I hope RW is up to it.
