No way would he have succeeded here. He also inherited a good team when he went to Swindon, it soon went downhill in L1
No not a disaster all, must have been off the field going’s on that got him the sack, same as at Salford not on the field results
No he didn’t take over a good Swindon side, they were 18th in league 2.
Then he won the title and in league one he left after 8 games, thy had 9 points on the board from those 8 games.
Hardly a disaster that is it after promotion,
It’s a decent start

He didn’t get the sack, he left to join Salford.

Paul Jewell was DOF at Swindon so potentially had a hand in the signings.

Either way
It’s undeniable that he did a very good job at Swindon

Rather like our Talent Identification Manager… or is he just window dressing.

Doyle was having most of his wages at Swindon picked up by Bradford City. He was on a very good wage at City between 7k and 9k I think which is why he was loaned out. There was a lot of discontent among City fans with him scoring regular for Swindon and City paying so much.
He was recalled to City after Christmas but said he didn’t want to be there and didn’t score in about three games before going back to Swindon in a cut price deal as his contract at City was nearly up.
