Christmas 2021
« on December 05, 2021, 02:02:13 pm by ravenrover »
I heard this morning that an announcement will be made on Dec18th, what a coincidence, as to whether a social Christmas will be allowed this year. Is this the day after this years Downing Street fuddle?
With regards to the events at Downing St last year the Met are tying themselves up in knots trying to avoid investigating this breach of 2020 rules.
Wonder what the Bobby on the door of No10 thought at the time as the partygoers rocked up

If they think for one minute people are going to adhere to any restrictions then they must be off their nut .

Not only the sheer hypocrisy of the government but the fact is people have had a belly full of it and deduced its something we are going to have to live with .

Christmas as normal for me irrespective of what the government says .

B@llax to em .

I love this "We are going to have to live with it" line.

It's the ultimate in "f**k you Jack". What it means is, "I assume I'm not going to die from it, so I'll live with it and tough shite to the tens of thousands who draw the short straw. As long as it's people I don't know, I don't really give a f**k and I'm not prepared to do the bare minimum to protect them."

That's fair enough but I could catch it on a bus , at work , shopping or even at Oakwell just the same .

My opinion is we are going to have to live with it it's as simple as that .

I've done everything asked of me for over 20 months and I get my booster jab next Sunday .

I've done my bit and enough is enough now .

From 1939 there were restrictions for 6 years, some were carried on for a few more years, when was enough enough then?

Gladly. Rather die WITH Covid than live in a permanent state of authoritarianism for the rest of my days. Even though over 99.5% of unvaccinated people won't die of Covid anyway.

Have you learned nothing from the Tories this last 20 months?   ;) I'd be amazed if they DIDN'T do something so dumb and inconsistent as this.

P.S: Labour are worse. So i'd never thought i'd be thankful that we have the Tories in over Labour.

Billy you will land at the same point as me the longer this thing goes on .

It's not a question of if but when .

That maybe in two years time , one year or early next year but you will arrive where I am none the less .

This thing will wear you down and affect your mental health because you are a human being the same as I am .

This thing isn't going away anytime soon the same as the flu hasn't gone away and most likely probably won't  .

Yes it's worse than the flu for a percentage of the people I get that but for the vast majority it isn't and many don't even know they've had it .

So I'll get vaccinated three times a year and I'll wear a mask in places that lawfully ask me to .

But that's as far as I go now and I will be having the family over for Christmas and boxing day and we will throw a party on new years eve .

And so will you , it's just a question of when .

I hardly saw anyone wearing a mask at the game yesterday, in the stadium, in the concourse or in the pub afterwards.

Yeah, I understand about kids at school.
I was wondering how many of those people who are telling everyone else to wear a mask were wearing them at the game, or in the pub.

Maybe a few headteachers in the crowd yesterday unmasked but forcing kids to wear them tomorrow maybe? Such fine, upstanding beacons of fairness and equality.

Hound I haven't seen one person wear a mask inside Oakwell all season .

The thing is I sit in the East Stand upper tier , the concourse up there is extremely narrow .

Leaving the ground it's packed on that concourse as you make your way to go down the stairs , absolute shoulder to shoulder walking at a snail's pace .

The toilets at half time are again packed .

The club recently shut the old West Stand and another 1500 transferred to the East Stand making it more packed .

A mask offers some kind of protection I wouldn't say other wise but in the grand scheme of things it's limited in my opinion .

Pubs on Doncaster and Sheffield road pre match are packed , Manx , Dove , East Dene club , Outpost and The Mount .

But having the family round at Christmas is a selfish thing to do apparently !!! .

I've decided it's not stopping me from doing anything .

We have to get on with things now and learn to live with it in my opinion .

The Government should either stop and close everything or stop and close nothing. Anything inbetween is just nonsense.  Stopping and closing everything is also nonsense but at least it would be consistent and you might be able to understand why they've done it.

They won't stop and close everything though because they know full well that the virus isn't serious enough now to warrant it.

That's why many will ignore the rules. Because they are pure theatre now and not for a public health benefit. They are quite simply laughable and only seen as a joke by many.

Christ above, where to begin?

CDH. When you get in your car, do you reckon the only two alternatives are to not turn the engine on, or to drive at 100 mph into a wall?

It's PRECISELY because we don't know how bad Omicron is going to be that we have to strike a balance now. Be cautious without unnecessarily shutting everything down. That's the sensible thing to do. If we take no action and it turns out that Omicron is a bas**rd, we are in a world of pain.

If we take massive action and it turns out Omicron is harmless, we've unnecessarily hurt ourselves.

It's really not hard if you calm down and think sensibly.

I’m in the camp of being cautious but it isn’t too long ago that our anti government poster was telling us that the government should not leave it to the public to decide for themselves what is the right thing to do and that they should offer leadership and tell us.

I think those of us who know how the game works now, after having played it for far too long know full well that Omicron is a load of b*llocks and will amount to nothing more than yet another tool to get people to get vaccinated and adhere to more restrictions.

Playing the game isn't nice when one player cheats all the time. So i give up. I'm done with all this rubbish. I suggest you do the same otherwise there will only be one winner.

The hypocrisy of this thing is incredible .

Wear a mask on public transport and in the shops .

But thousands upon thousands are crammed in to night clubs and bars every weekend with many obviously under the affects of alcohol or substances .

If you want this thing off the tv and rest of the media every single hour of the day .

Stop bloody complying , complying to a government who don't even comply to their own rules .

A bloody government with an authoritarian agenda none the less .
