Lunacy. I suppose someone will try and prove their rights at the risk of death.

.... or if they do know , how many will care

Texting or talking on phone is commonplace now and is illegal

Parking in confines of a Zebra (the zig zag line bit) WAS the biggest no no in the Highway Code but do people do it .... Of course they do

Weather today rain mist / fog  still people with no lights on M18 .... despite it being an offence ... let alone bloody dangerous

However I bet some of them ride round with full beam on in a well lit area ... Why ffs

…..and don’t forget those who have fog lights on because of a bit of light mist.

Isn't it just common sense? Don't turn if a bike is there, don't run over a pedestrian?  No pedestrian will blindly walk out (anymore than they normally do).

If we had common sense we'd allow left turns on some traffic lights too like in America.

what I find strange about the law on mobile phones while driving is , you cannot use it while held in your hand as this is illegal but if you put it in a docking station or cradle that's not illegal but both as dangerous the law is a farce on this issue.

And what about CB radio for truck drivers, if it is still used, I have never understood that being allowed.

I think it might be legal to use CB radio while driving.
Is it different to taxi drivers taking or receiving calls from an office.
Maybe Filo is the best man to ask about that.
Or police an ambulance crew speaking to base on radios.

I’ve been reading a lot on safety differently lately and some of the experiments in Dutch cities where all road signage and markings are removed - it makes drivers think and act more responsibly. Unfortunately I don’t think it would work in this country

Dude why do you think the Dutch are more sensible than the citizens of the UK

This is absolute madness. Footpaths are for pedestrians roads are for vehicles.  That’s why there are things like pelican crossings

There's gonna be one or two (thousand) claims by freeloaders throwing themselves in front of cars because of this.

I've only been to Amsterdam once it's the bicycles, couldn't say bikes, that are the problem for a pedestrian not cars

I can’t speak for other companies, but our system uses your phone as a PDA, we don’t take calls from an office, our jibs come through via 4g and we click one button to accept

Tell me about it. I was rammed up the arse by a cyclist there a few years ago. The only thing that stopped my mate pissing himself was when the rider caught him in the knackers with the handlebar as she sped off.

Bloody foreigners.

Not sure, but if it was the other way round I'd have ended up in the nick.

Whole point of the new regulations is to emphasise who is more likely to get hurt in an incident, and make the less likely one think a bit more.

Like the Kitson in an Audi who once caught me with his wing mirror while I was riding perfectly correctly on my bike and he overtook where there wasn't space.

If a cyclist hits a pedestrian who is behaving sensibly, they are culpable and the new regs make that clear.

It also makes the more likely ones think less about their own safety, by leaving the responsibility to someone else.

Dude you misunderstood me I think. What I was trying to say is walking footpaths.  Vehicles roads so on roads vehicles should have priority and pedestrians should give way for them. For me that’s common sense

It’s the same as when you see these idiots on electric scooters on the pavement it’s dangerous

New year and the same issues this morning. Inches from being taken out by an old woman in a BMW as she turned out of her drive right towards me and got called a knobhead by a dirty looking scumbag who was going in the opposite direction on an otherwise clear road.
I love cycling!

I guess that's why they have to bring in new rules to ensure those knobheads who think they own the roads respect others on it and crossing it.

I think there will be a rise in rear end shunts when cars stop at left turns to allow pedestrians to cross before the car leaves the carriageway.

I ride my bike a lot ,but I would know way overtake a car on the inside if it's wanting to turn left even if the law says it's my right of way

I have absolutely no problem with 3. but 2, and 4 will cause a great deal of consternation.
