Top 6 leagues in England
« on December 31, 2021, 04:54:53 pm by Campsall rover »
Just to change the topic.

From Premier league to National League North ( not national south )

I have just done a tot up on number of grounds i have now been to.

I did not realise it was as many as it is.  134 Now that includes current stadiums and the old ground where they played previously.

Of the current 92 clubs in top 4 leagues I am missing Chelsea, Spurs ( new ) Man City ( new ) and Brentford ( new ) Wimbledon ( new )
Forest Green Rovers, Salford and Morecambe ( new ) tick that off on Sunday.

There are several grounds in the NPL and Southern league also that I have been to.

Now I am quite proud of that and given myself a shock at the number.

Having said that there will be a number of people I would think who post on this forum who can beat that.

Would be interested to see who has beaten me and how many people.

Right get counting. Nowt else to do on a New Year’s Eve is there?  :)

Just a footnote to the above.
Amazingly only been to 1 Scottish ground. Hampden Park.  :silly:

I can’t beat that and some of mine are outside those 6 leagues..  it’s 90 odd I think..

Edit - just counted and got to 87, unless I missed a few.  51 of the current 92.

Struggling to remember what my “newest” was, probably Parc des Princes at the women’s 2019 WC.

Leeds United v Bayern Munich 1975 European Cup Final.  Least said about that day the better.  :)

I’m trying to do the 92 but purely with rovers. Morecambe will be 52. I’ve done a few more but they are either old grounds or now non league. How many grounds or current 92 have you done watching rovers?

Years ago I was within 7 of doing the whole 92 and all watching Barnsley .

Since the influx of new stadiums I'm a mile away now .

Even done Easter Road Hibernian and Queen of the South up in Scotland pre season of course .

Non league FA cup , Marine , Caernarfon , Bromsgrove and Altrincham .

Gone but not forgotten , Bradford Park Avenue , Workington , Southport , Rushden and Diamonds , Chester City old and new .

Best Old Trafford

Worst , The Shay Halifax 1970's .

I've always wanted to see us at a European away game and experience that .

Yes I know ......

However we went over to Germany under Stendel in 2019 pre season to play Arminia Bielefeld and VFL Bochum and I missed out because they were announced at short notice and I couldn't get the time off work .

Around 1k tykes went to the VFL Bochum game and apparently it was fantastic .

The locals put on beer tents in the town centre and had bands on and both sets of fans had a real party before and after the game .

We won 3-0 too .

Well pyssed off about that .

Good stuff. I have some catching up to do. I want us to stay up but if we do get relegated a league two tour will boost my numbers big time

Sadly I have been keeping a record of grounds visited for some time.

Think I tot up to 132 in top 6 English Leagues and 139 in total with other grounds.

124 with Rovers.

Includes quite a few old and new grounds eg Darlington.

Most obscure others:
Huntly v Fort William (Highland League)
Galway City v Birmingham City (pre-season friendly)
Bangor (NI) testimonial v mixed XI, including a first half appearance by George Best.
Bohemians Prague v another Prague team in a local Derby (mid 80’s can’t remember the opposition)
Does before and after at revamped grounds like Deepdale, Bloomfield Road, Wembley count? If so it will be more.
Does Wembley and Millenium count as not club grounds? In which I go down to 130 top 6 Leagues.

88/92 done (Brentford, Spurs, Wimbledon and Sutton left), 342 grounds in total.

The futbology app on the app store is incredible for keeping track of grounds.

124 in total but only 54 of the current 92.

The Red Baron is the man to talk about though. He finished the entire 92 years ago when the Rovers played away at Withdean.

Brighton has to be the weirdest one , I've actually seen us at three different grounds in that city .

Twerton Park in Bath to play Bristol Rovers .

What's also fascinating at least to me is visiting clubs who stayed at their ground but totally redeveloped them .

You can't believe Blackpool , Watford , Wolves and Plymouth for example are in the same location they've always been .

342 in total. That’s some total Swinton. I assume quite a number abroad.
Huge number of non league grounds included presumably.

Brilliant. I am an amateur by comparison to you.

Forgot about Withdean and Rushden!!
So taking Wembley and Millenium out of it that gives me:
132 in top 6 leagues
141 overall
126 with Rovers.

Thanks Bob and Tyke!

What did your ground look like 25 years ago?

Preston same 25 years ago very little resemblance.
Bristol City massive difference to when I went in the 80’s

Chelsea is the biggest difference I would say in the top flight although I have never been to a football match there.
Stayed in the hotel at ground in May 2000 when I was selling advertising space on their corporate brochure.
2 weeks before their FA Cup final v Villa    Last one at the old Wembley.

Agree about Stamford Bridge Campsall and even the area around the Bridge is totally different today from my first visit there in 1982 .

That was one scary place at that time .

Not that many abroad, just loads of non league. Thing is, at 25, most of the time I've earnt an adult wage and been able to travel independently we've been in pandemic life and its been a faff to travel abroad. Hopefully the restrictions lift soon.

Abroad I've done New England (USA), Glentoran and Linfield (NI), Shamrock (Ireland), Schalke and Duisburg (Germany), and Twente, Sittard, De Grafscaap, Dordrecht, Breda and Barendrecht (Netherlands).

Currently stood at Stockton Town doing ground number 641. Seen Rovers at 216 of those.
Originally completed the 92 in Sept 1984 at Bournemouth and am currently on 89/92 needing new Brentford, Wimbledon and Spurs although I’m at Spurs next Sunday and Wimbledon on Feb 26th v Rovers. Just got to find a way to sneak into Brentford. Done all Scottish grounds except Kelty and all Welsh Prem except Caernarfon.
Got 3 left in Conference and 2 left in Conference North.
Fantastic hobby to have, some may call it sad.

There's definitely worse hobbies to have.

Great effort!
