Knoyle is a decent player but we don’t have a second choice behind him. Not saying we should not get a left back, but at least now we have Rowe and Horton. On the right it is just Knoyle at present. That’s a big risk area.

Like BR said we have Charlie Seaman as cover for RB he may not be the ideal but neither is Horton.
Therefore I can go with a good left sided defender who could play LB. This would allow Tommy into a midfield Role getting further up the pitch or Left wing back if we play 352 or 343. We won’t see Anderson and John until at least February and not early.

Bringing Downing in would have been good but all the three CHs would be predominantly right footed.

Left back has to be one of the top three priorities for us at the moment.

I'd rank it, in order:

Striker
Holding Mid
Left Back

And then below that:

Winger
Centre Back
Goalkeeper

Not that I'm asking for much like...

As the week (and the window) heads towards the half way point, you really would hope to be seeing significant signs of activity soon. All we seem to get so far is reasons why certain deals (including some that have been acknowledged as targets) can’t happen. You would hope we aren’t waiting too much longer for clubs to make decisions to release players.

This transfer window will show how serious baldwin is.

I don't get that. Do you think GB is making the decisions here?

my mistake. This transfer window will show how serious the board are.

Well have we signed GMC first choice striker or is there still one to come.

Need a wide player also.
Hiwula is doing nothing and Taylor injured.

I get the thinking behind signing a left back but personally i think all our efforts should be on scoring goals. It's what we can't do. Our defence isn't great but it's not why we are bottom.

A centre midfielder who makes it harder for us to play through would be a priority ahead of a left back imo. Just let Horton have a run in the team with Rowe ahead of him to help guide him through games. Remember he's had Hiwula in front of him and a different centre half every week to the side that won't have helped his defending.

Back to Downing, it looks as if he’s off to Rochdale

We must either not need a centre half or have other players lined up. Rochdale wouldn't be out bidding us you'd think

Thing is we have 6 centre half’s plus Rowe who can play there in an emergency, granted Anderson and Cam are out at the moment but Tom SHOULD be back in a month

Its full backs we are crying out for, not central defenders.

We've got oluwu and Williams fit at the moment who looked decent on Saturday together. Then hopefully Anderson, John next month will give us depth in that area.  Not sure it's a top priority, the midfield and attack is the focus surely?

Olowu and Williams will get mullered against the sides we have coming up.

I think Olowu has shown great promise - I personally put him above Williams in our current squad.

If possible we need a centre back, we don’t keep clean sheets with the players fit. You have to plug it up at the back.

I'd have a creative winger higher up the list, as you don't score if you don't create chances.

Personally I don't think we need Downing to add to our crop of centre halves. We don't want to land another with a questionable injury record on contract to solve a short term problem.

As said above, if anything, it's a specialist full back that's more pressing.

Downing will no doubt be looking for a more permanent home so if Rochdale can give him that, then good luck to them.

Some whoppers on twitter think this means we can’t compete financially with rochdale.

Do they ever have a day off?

I think it's pretty obvious they don't.
