Hopefully we never stoop so low as signing a player such as David Goodwillie

Fair play to Val McDermid. Cutting ties with a filthy, dirty, tarnished club she has followed for a lifetime because they employed a sex pest. Those are what i call principles.

If that’s her choice that’s up to her

Why does she need to go public and splash it all over the media

He’s a convicted rapist, this should be highlighted everywhere, well done to her for her actions

To draw attention and get more people to follow suit? She isn't the one in the wrong here...

To highlight the fact that these pieces of filth need to have their lives ruined forever. Just like those they attack and abuse. Employers also need to know that employing sexual predators isn't a good look nor morally responsible.  Pretty obvious really.

Filo I think he’s not convicted the crown court said there was insufficient evidence

It was the Criminal Injuries Compensation Authority that awarded £11000 in compensation

According to the news, directors have resigned as well as volunteers and also many fans stayed away last night for their game with QOS. Their manager was booed throughout apparently too.

People taking a stand against vile cowards. Great to see.

He won't play for RR...

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-scotland-60244442
the issue they have is he signed a contract and them knowing full well of his past ,the only way to get out of it is to pay him off, it's not like he has just been convicted, they were wrong to sign him in the first place in my eyes.

They absolutely were wrong to sign him. And they've only had this Road to Damascus realisation because of McDiarmid's action. She deserves massive praise for what she's done.

To be fair it wasn't only her who stepped away from the club, they lost directors and the women's team wanted to rename themselves entirely and cut all ties. But yes, it probably was the sponsorship money that suddenly made them realise signing a rapist was a bad idea.

Clyde signed him back on loan , the council will not renew the lease that ends in 2023,The women's team and general manager have all quit , He played their for 5 years without the women's team not quitting and the council happy for them to play matches at the ground now they are going to ban him from the stadium , if this was such an issue why did this not happen 5 years ago.

The council weren't in control of the stadium 5 years ago.

If he was a bin man would he be stopped from making a living and would there be all this outcry
He’s not convicted in a criminal court.
I’m not saying anything in his favour I just feel Clyde council are now jumping on a band wagon
How does this equate when football is allowing convicted drunk drivers who have killed people to continue to make a living.

I think the difference is - from what I have read - is that goodwillie hasn’t shown remorse.
