As manager of rovers, McSheffrey surely cannot get the job for next season if the results carry on like this?.
I accept there is rebuilding to be done, there is a fresh batch of players come in.

Can the board keep seeing these type of performance’s as in the Rotherham game and still be behind the manager. Is he blindly already appointed if we are relegated at the end of the season?.
If so what ability has he shown that he can handle the job of a-major rebuild?.

Surely this season must show some promising signs otherwise we must start afresh. There have been odd moments of improvement then a drop back. This happens in new side’s but the losses have been substantial.
What does McSheffrey need to do to be manager next season?. You may say he has a contract but these can mutually terminated, we all know that.

Does he have to achieve some respectability?. Does he have to save us from relegation?. Does he need a certain amount of victories to maintain his job. What in your opinion does he need to achieve?.

I said before I think we need to show improvement now we have some of his players in the team ie 8 wins til end of season and I would be happy but if we get nearer 4 I think it’s something the board needs to address

McSheffrey has been in the job just over a month. He has been trusted by the board to make 8 signings to make some attempt to stay up but to also in my opinion start the process of building for next season.

Yes the game against Rotherham was awful and effectively spineless, but they are the best, toughest, strongest team in the league full of players many of which would get into Championship teams so losing was inevitable and certainly no shock.

Up to that game we were praising McSheffrey on the chances the teams were now creating and for our 1st away win of the season. He has to be given time. I do think we will go down this season but I am confident under McSheffrey and Sinclair that we will come straight back up bigger and stronger next season.

I agree Rotherham are a strong side but thats still no excuse to get thumped 5-0 at home. Many more results & performances like that between now & end of season would probably see GMc lose his job ,at the end of the season.
  What i hope will happen is the new players will start to gel & improvements in results will happen. If this does happen his job will be safe, even though relegation is inevitable. We have to finish the season with some momentum.

Survival has gone.

If he can produce displays on a regular basis like the Plymouth game then i'd have fears allayed slightly. I'm not necessarily too concerned about the results at this stage but it is important to get us playing relatively consistently like we did against Plymouth and giving teams problems.

There is little pressure on him because most fans accept we are already relegated so in theory, it should make his job easier. It's a free hit until the end of the season but if we are still seeing the types of performances we've been seeing under him since he took over on a regular basis from now until the end of the season, he will need replacing in the summer.

I again can’t believe the posts on here. Up to last Tuesday we’ve seen a vast improvement in attitude and effort, give the bloke a chance. OK the team selection wasn’t good as it turned out but everyone is a great manager with hindsight. I’m certainly glad that I never worked for some of you, the Rotherham board were certainly more forgiving with last seasons relegation.

I've seen some improvement overall, but bearing in mind he's had more options than Wellens, i haven't seen anything like 'vast' improvement.

Neither are having/had an audition. We can talk about sacking him, but why do that? We were dead and buried when he came in, a manager should always be given time (unless exceptional circumstances) and it’s clear there’s far deeper rooted issues than just who is manager.

He’s not trialing for job.

We were not dead and buried when he came in. The reality is that GM has almost doubled the survival points gap since he arrived and this despite many new players added. He's had 2 months and we've won 2 games. Both by 1-0 margins and very lucky indeed to win those too.

I'm just highlighting that we had a real chance of staying up before GM's first game against Oxford when we were 6 points adrift and now 2 months later we don't as we are 11 points adrift. For some reason this is deemed wrong and not worthy of an explanation.

I was all for Wellens to go in the end, it was really bad. But he had a summer and half a season to get the team together.

GMC has had what 3 games? after signing a few players we beat MK Dons and lost the other 2. Given where we are a point a game against top teams is ok isn't it? Performances generally have been better too.

Where we are in the league means we will probably take a few batterings. It's horrible and we shouldn't accept that level of performance. But we should understand that they won't define our season. Sunderland let 7 in the other day

We can't start sacking managers who don't immediately turn us into world beaters. The state we're in we'd be going through them quicker than Watford

GM’s position will only come under consideration if we don’t achieve promotion straight back up.
No way is the board going to get rid of him earlier than that.
After what we’ve been through with Moore and Wellens we need stability not further instability, and GM needs to be given time, even if that is in L2.

As has been pointed out earlier in this repetitive thread - Warne didn’t build Rotherham in a day.
