Eraring Power station to close early

Australia's largest coal fired power station to close seven years early. Situated in the Hunter valley not far north of Sydney it is surrounded by coal mines and receives coal by conveyor belts systems, rail and private road.

It is closing because it is fast becoming uneconomic in the face of lower cleaner renewable energy.

Australia is the world's largest coal exporter by some margin.
