Maybe they didn't give him the budget he wanted.

He will get another job somewhere

I wouldn’t ever want him back at Donny.  He’s a bit toxic and lacks decorum for me

He can find good players I’ll give him that but seems to chastise rather than encourage

Would have him as a talent scout.

Best we have had at squad building by some distance.  Thought, strategy and longer term thinking on the whole.  They didn't all come off but many did.

Tactically not the strongest nor the best man manager but he brought in good players and made many of them better.

He doesn’t find the players he gets the credit for signing.

He found Alfie .
GMc recently praised him as a good manager with great knowledge of the game and always there help the individual.

Beautifully put Phil! I totally agree. I never took to the bloke despite his successes. Fergie Snr was the same and Wellens seemed to be that sort too.

Whether McSheff is a good Rovers manager no-one knows yet. But I like the way he goes about things so far. He's got decorum that's for sure. SOD was the same.

I can assure you that Darren Ferguson did not discover Alfie May playing for Hythe Town.

But he was the responsible person at the time. I doubt many managers do all of the scouting for their club. But they are still responsible just like DF was.

To be fair it’s not the managers job to find players but it’s his job to decide whether they’re worth signing or not. And ferguson has decided on plenty of good non league signings

He has never done well though once his team has been promoted to the Championship.

Yep, it is always difficult to keep a small club in the championship.

Agreed Phil.
I have one or two reasons I would not want him back at the KM. None of which are for public consumption.

He just trusts the man that finds them. He’s exceptional though to be fair. He’s an ex Premier League players brother.

It's not impossible though Hound, you'd think he and that club would learn from past seasons yet they never do.

Sean O'Driscoll managed it after all. Nathan Jones is doing a good job at progressing a small club in the Championship now, as a more recent example.

We had may up a few times though for training months before we finally signed him

Oh yes, I agree RA.
It is much harder though for small clubs to stay up.

McAnthony obviously hoping that he can keep them up.
I suppose he must have something if those that he keeps sacking come back for more.
