So now it’s ok to assault someone?  Live, on a global scale.
There will be two clear camps on this.
Standing up for your Mrs blah blah. The mrs he is quite happy to go round sleeping with anyone she likes. And him too.
Then there is the camp that say no violence like this is justified.

Either way it’s messed up.

I wonder how Ricky Gervais would have reacted if it were him that was slapped. And he is one to take the piss.

Chris Rock deserved a slap for the sub-Nick Hancock quality of his humour.

Personally I thought WS behaved like a spoilt brat. From the footage I saw he appeared to find it funny until Mrs Smith pulled a face. He then revelled in it on film.

It’s a joke. What a complete arse

I suppose it proves how good an actor he is.  Crocodile tears and great promotion for the movie

What a load of gibberish.

Apparently, there isn't a line Chris Rock wouldn't cross to get a laugh. Will Smith was wrong to physically attack him but just how far would people like Rock go if there weren't people like Smith in the world?

I don’t really get your point BB

The joke itself wasn’t even that offensive.  It could be argued that by telling the joke he was supporting her and raising the issue

I agree that sometimes comics can go too far.

How many tears would he be crying if R Gervais had been doing the presentation.

Apparently, Chris Rock said he didn't know she had issues with alopecia, and that he thought she'd shaved her head voluntarily. That in itself suggests that he shouldn't have said it if he'd known the facts.

I can understand people’s cynicism and wouldn’t rule it out being a publicity stunt for both

The proof will be in the pudding when we see how the academy handle it.  I don’t think there will be much done about it.

It’s a bit of a political hot potato

I’m surprised how much support WS has got

Will Smith was laughing at the joke until his wife/ex wife looked at him pissed off, then he reacted over the top ,I think it's a sad world we live in just because you don't like a joke you cannot attack the comedian ,they would have made a bigger statement by walking out

Rich I mentioned that earlier WS was pxxxing himself until his good lady got the huff
100% over the top.  When you think of some of the things recently that have killed peoples careers this is worse

I’m expecting a story soon about stress and mental health.

WS does have some support.  An actress who I have never heard of described the incident as “the most beautiful thing she had seen” then for some unbeknown reason brought rave into it saying “ "When I saw a Black man stand up for his wife. ”.

What the hell does it matter what colour he or she was/is.
Then again there are always publicity grabbers

Wilts, I think Phil means that the unheard of actress is publicity grabbing.

Correct hound

On another level there’s an interview with Jim Carey on the internet. He’s very damning of Smith saying if he was C Rock he’d be suing Smith for $200 millions
