More positives news. Things seem to be having a much needed shake up.

It will be positive news when we see someone with real quality emerge from the youth squads into the first team.
Greeny is one of the few to emerge in the last 20 odd years despite umpteen appointments of youth coaches.

And I think Greeny was 9/10 under the Owls youth set up, only joining us very late.

Gribble & Green sounds like an accountancy firm!

Certainly hope they make a good account of themselves. Welcome to them both.

It good to see us getting good coaches in the U16/U 18 as we’ve had before. But unless there is an U 21/23 squad playing against good sides then I’m not sure it’s worth it. They need time and development to get ready to contribute in the first team.
Look at the players we’ve released. Horton, Lasani and Greaves plus players who we couldn’t keep in the last two years.  So we talk about getting players ready for the first team. But unless they are exceptional they will not break into first tea.

Lots actually, and I'm usually quite optimistic.
But it doesn't change the point I was trying to make.
If you can give a few examples of excellent players to come through the youth squad and play lots of games in the first team over the last 20 odd years I'd be grateful.
I'm all for people having employment but we have to have value for money as well.
We seem to have more backroom staff than ever...coaches, fitness coaches, goalie coaches, set piece coaches, analysts, talent identification scouts, loads of youth coaches etc, but we are still in League 2.
Back in the day we produced players like the Snodin brothers, Steve Lister, Glenn Humphries, Daral Pugh, Brian Deane, David Harle, Neil Woods, Paul Raven, Rufus Brevett, Mark Rankine, Steve Gaughan etc and, as far as I can remember, we only had a manager, assistant boss, and youth coach.

Theres a few we've picked up at 15-16 (Green, Husband, Faulkner) that have turned out OK but overall the path isn't showing value for money.

Mandeville could have been up there if he actually liked the sport and didn't enjoy getting b*llocksed as much as he does.

It’s a positive that he knows the club. But are we turning into Crewe Alexandra with an over the top back room staff?.

Ben Blythe came through the Academy and as gone to Swansea U23 to get more development that we can’t give him.
Will Faulkner have to go along those lines he’s only just 18 so we will find out in the next 12 months.

Why, what new positions have we created, other than HoF? These are already existing roles in the structure, I think these were McSheffreys and Sinclairs old jobs.

I hadn’t heard of the role Greeny or his mate took over. Nothing wrong with strengthening the backroom but don’t do it at the cost of what’s on the field. We need quality players with quality coaches.

Bit of a leap to assume it will be done "at the cost of what's on the field", especially just on the basis that you didn't know if the positions existed or not previously.

Aye it’s a massive leap to think this board would prefer the wages of bringing staff members in, rather than the more expensive player wages.
Every comment I make your onto it ‘like a kid with a penny chew, after having no sweets for a year!. Lighten up you’ve nothing to prove.

Not exactly every comment, is it?

Not really sure why you'd bother spending money bringing in staff if you aren't going to put a playing squad in place to justify it.

Then again you do tend to decide what your agenda is then make something up to suit it that sounds plausible until you apply some critical thought.

Boston now 2-1 against run of play after their leveller.
Boston just scraped the last playoff slot on the last day of the season.
If they go on and win tonight, it’s another away day at AFC Fylde this Sunday.
York are through to play second place Brackley in the semi play off final.

Well well.
Boston doing it the hard way.
2 games away from getting back to the Conference.
They have to go to Fylde this Sunday and do it all again.
Over 400 away fans.
3900 at Aggborough.
Greeny right in the thick of things.
