VW emissions payout

https://www.thisismoney.co.uk/money/cars/article-10853783/Volkswagen-reaches-193m-settlement-UK-owners-Dieselgate.html

I see this case was finally agreed on with an out of court settlement for the class action claimants.

Anyone on here been affected by this issue. are you expecting your approx £2k payout. Is it even justified.?

I fully qualify , but never applied as I'm not affected. I bought because it looked  well, 30 quid tax and did 50 off to gallon, all of which I received. If they have defrauded on emmisions then the damage is to environment and that's where money should go.

I agree with you saying it's the environment that's been affected, and they are not the only ones complicit in this.

My Mrs has a Golf, got it for the same reasons as you state, good car, good fuel economy, cheap car tax, good residual values ect, it had the software update after this all blew up, since then the car has been sluggish and none responsive and the mpg readings have fallen through the floor, she recently had it priced up in part exchange for a new car, the salesman said the price was reduced because of this issue and all dealers have priced this in.

My thinking is the 1.7k she will get should just about cover the loss in value she has had on the value of the vehicle but will not cover the extra in fuel she has used. Unfortunately the emissions have been higher than she was originally expecting because VW lied to her and all the other owners. So they in effect get away scott free from poisoning the UK for years with these models.

Put in a claim some years back now with Leigh Day. Didn’t expect anything. No win no fee etc. the claim went in long after we had moved the car on.
Happy to report we are getting a payout though. Not allowed to disclose the exact amount, but Leigh Day are now happy for it to be disclosed that the group action has been successful. What I will say is we had this car for a few years on a pcp. And we are getting back a significant proportion of everything we paid. It transpires also that Leigh Day are claiming off VW for their costs also, so there is no fee to the claimants either.
So it’s a win with no fees at all.
