One last thing I would say about the royals is all the female members of my family, except the youngest, a teen are fascinated by it.

I don't know what's going on but it obviously taps into something deep. Soap Opera perhaps?

Andrew with Covid? Pull the other one. He was insisting on taking part in some parade, Knights of the Garter or something like that. He's been leaned on. This is the easiest excuse. My lad told me today that there's some song going around which talks about a certain Prince being a nonce and that it's in the Top 20 now. Can't imagine the BBC playing it but I'm told there's a big effort online to get it to Number 1! Anyone heard of the thing?

Did I suggest I was against the British monarchy?

My only point was these precious metals anniversaries are a bit perculiar.

Wow! That kicked off didn’t it River Don lol?. I got where you were coming from, but the resident Right Wingers are obviously looking for a fight today.
Me? I find the whole concept of ‘Monarchy” to be anachronistic and corrupt, but unfortunately the brainwashed from birth brigade, don’t ever question what they’ve been indoctrinated with.

Bit like religion if you ask me, but that’s another argument waiting to be launched.

What argument waiting to be launched? You're either an atheist, an agnostic, or a believer, all of which is your privilege; and, as Einstein maintained, none can be proven as correct.

Sorry to disappoint you, but there's no debate to be had here on that.

I'm not convinced we should fund the monarchy to the extent we do, that needs to modernise.

But the ceremony, the celebration and the togetherness it brings as a focal point is superb and unique accross the world.

I agree with you Selby but they don’t actually rule the country
They do far more good than they are given credit for. That’s excluding the likes of Harry and Meghan of course

Is this what you are referring to Steve?

''"Science without religion is lame, religion without science is blind." So said Albert Einstein, and his famous aphorism has been the source of endless debate between believers and non-believers wanting to claim the greatest scientist of the 20th century as their own''

''Due to be auctioned this week in London after being in a private collection for more than 50 years, the document leaves no doubt that the theoretical physicist was no supporter of religious beliefs, which he regarded as "childish superstitions"''

Never mind what the arsewipe Guardian says. Do your own research. Google "Was Einstein an atheist?"

You'll soon find out that he wasn't.

Normally with Covid you're asked to self isolate to protect the elderly, Prince Andrew not so much
