Joe Dodoo

From @donnyreport on Twitter

Joe Dodoo wants out at #drfc after staying away from pre season training.

The striker has one year remaining on his contract at the club so #drfc will want a fee. [

But as pre-season hasn’t started I wonder where they get there info from?

Given it’s only 12 months he has left and what must be a strong desire on our part to go different ways with him and his League One wages, we’d be mad to hold out for a fee of any kind.

Anderson Taylor Close Hiwula  Agard Seaman who were all not available in the season. Now maybe Dodoo wants to go??

I would imagine he's not on league one wages anymore, if we have any sense we'll have put a substantial relegation cut clause in there.

I don't know whether to laugh or cry if we're getting big timed by Joe Dodoo though. How much demand can the guy be in?!

We are delusional if we think we can get a fee for one of the worst players I've seen play for us. Gormless is an understatement too.

Maybe he ‘wants out’ because he’s been told he’s no bloody good and needs to find another club sharpish.

Hard to believe that bit.

Not unrealistic to get 50 grand for him.

If any team wants to buy him him for £50 and a bag of dry roasted peanuts I’m happy to drop him off got free! One of the worst strikers I’ve ever seen in a rovers shirt, and I’ve seen some right bags of shyte!

Regardless of his performances, that cupping his hand to his ear when he scored in a meaningless match at the end of the season was the end as far as I am concerned.

He was a central part of one of the worst teams we have had in our history.

A bit of humility is required in those circumstances. Not the arrogance of that sort of gesture.

If he's refusing to join up for pre-season, good riddance to him.

If he is refusing to join pre-season then surely he is in breach of contract.

I was just going to say exactly that Idler. What sanctions are available to clubs when players do that? Can we stop paying him? I know we could sit on his registration and make his life deeply unpleasant, but that would mean he'd remainan employee even if we could stop paying him.

What other options are available?

He’s human he has been disappointed probably with unfair criticism, when he feels he’s been doing the best he can.
He hasn’t been played in his best position for a start. He got eight goals so there should be line of others being criticised before it’s his turn.

People who have got away with it lightly from last year, whereas he’s been targeted. He isn’t the best forward we’ve had, but the guy can only do what he’s capable of, and playing in a very poor side. He might have been carrying injuries all season for all we know.

Unfair criticism... you taking the piss? He was useless and couldn't be arsed. Get him out of our club.

It's clearly the best for both parties if we part company. We need to forget about a fee and he needs to forget about any ridiculous wage demands. Get him moved on to restart his career and then allow us to use his no doubt decent wages to bring one or potentially two players on board.

The only players at Donny should be ones that want to be here.
If they think that they are too good then show it on the pitch and win yourself a move.

To be fair to Dodoo what he signed up for was likely very different to the reality that unfolded through the season.

He was probably lured in with a decent financial package and he would surely have sussed that he would be expected to muck in for a side low on firepower that had just failed to land its targets.

For the goal away at MK I give thanks but my abiding memory will be of a guy who lacked sharpness and instinct in the box and, as a result, scored way less than he should have done.

Personally, I think that we’re talking here about an option that will have been written into the arrangement from the outset. He’ll go with our blessing, probably end up on more dosh at a place like Stockport and score against us home and away.

We were absolutely cack last season from start to finish and everything in between. We gave failure a bad name. Terrible.

My abiding memory of him is never winning a header or looking like he was even trying to win it. Just a futile jump every time as if he was blaming the pass. I’m not having that. Peter Heritage was shit but he was trying his best.

When he plays as a target man he looks like a winger.

He hasn’t played well for us in many games, but there are a team full of people just the same. Many players flattered to deceive. At the time some of those recruited seemed decent signings at the time. Let’s hope this season is a new start with more thought and knowledge put into signing the right players. A bit of good luck wouldn’t go amiss either.

Let’s just get the injured players back and playing something like they can - that would be a start! Having Anderson, Taylor and Close playing regular makes a difference.

After that, 4 decent signings in the right places and of the right quality (please). 5 signings, if Dodoo actually does go.

I’m with DVR - a bit of pace and power urgently required to complement our old heads (particularly TR & AC).

If all the above is achieved, I may even get mildly interested ( ;))

If Dodoo does want to go then get another striker/forward in and allow him to leave. His wages off the books.

If he wants out like any player, you let him go. An unhappy player is no good to anybody. I feel there will be a league two or conference side that will want him.
