My dad died of oesophageal cancer three years ago. He spent his life working in the steel industry in Rotherham. He would talk of the days when the air was red and the women couldn't put their washing out. Iron oxide. Rust.

The doctor thought he was a heavy smoker, due to the state of his lungs. The truth is my Dad had always tried to lead a healthy lifestyle.

This is a really significant piece of research which will hopefully help to save thousands of lives.  There seems to be quite a lot of information coming out recently about varying different potential treatments and preventions. 

I’ve lost a few members of my family to cancer as most of us probably have. Let’s hope that these treatments work. It can.be a terrible and painful way to die

We have been active for years fighting against major road networks being built over public transport and part of out argument has been that there is no safe level of PM 2.5.

This further development is really important although we lost the fight south of the harbour, there is still years of construction under and to the north. One of the major part of our work has been around the pollution from the construction work itself.

  Talk to the local authorities about slowing traffic then, or even putting the main road artery through a tunnel and having traffic stopped every fifty yards for people crossing a dual carriage way on Trafford way instead of pedestrian subways.

At least we are getting to the actual reason why electric cars will prove invaluable in the future and it has nothing to do with climate change.

Man-made pollution, whether it be air, soil or water is the biggest threat to humanity. Not climate change. The elites are focussing on the wrong horse.

If this country had a functional rail network and it wasn't a blatant rip off then more people would use it too.

Climate change and local air pollution are major threats, and the sooner we get to grips with them the better.

Trouble is the permit system from the Environment Agency to large installations is not worth the paper it is written on.

Already done selby, local authorities are spending millions on road closures and traffic calming to stop rat runners and those avoiding the tolls or accessing the tunnel. People are having to pay up to 30 quid a week in tolls just to get to work.
