Frees up some wages

Three months before we can realistically do anything with them.

Yep leaves us with a problem.  But, in some ways assuming he's genuine, fair play for his honesty he could easily have just took a wage.

You have to wonder if we were better if he'd have stuck it out though.

Sore toe must be really bad. Maybe it's the new baby. No wait, its golf. Bet anyone not questioning the situation surrounding golf feels stupid now. Clearly more to it

Shame, he had that bit of creativity when he was on form. But if he knows himself he will never be properly fit then it's for the best. Good luck for the future Lee.

I can’t help thinking that those that have slagged him off have had an effect on this decision

Fair play to him for being up front and honest by speaking to the cameras about it.

He could have easily skulked away and said nothing.

Best of luck to him whatever he chooses to do.

Weird, I was going to write the same and switched it up last minute.

Well I am gutted - the most gifted and talented player to pull a Rovers shirt on for many years - something completely different to the hordes of journeymen machines who can run all day and produce bugger all. Massive gap to fill but a fit Ben Close will suffice at the level we're at.

Best wishes to the lad outside the game he loved.

I got dogs abuse for saying it was nearly impossible he would last the season. Retired earlier than I though but pretty obvious it would end in tears.

To be fair I don't think what has been said lately would effect him, he has taken much worse on the chin than that over the last couple of years. Should ask the majority of Cardiff fans what they think of him.

I'd put it down to the fact that he cannot play at the standard he used to and doesn't want to end up having rings ran round him by players who when he was at his best are not fit to tie his boots.

He gave it one last shot to find that spark. Didn't happen. Gutted because I do like tomlin and wanted him to succeed with rovers. At times his thinking is one step ahead of the rest, and that was a problem when he tried to play a pass that teammate was not expecting or ready for

Updated. Actually seems that his body Is shot and playing through the pain wasn't worth it. Can totally understand. States that was gonna retire in summer but doncaster gave him that enjoyment again. Nice to hear.

To be fair, who would blame him when we are employing the tactics we are, which appears to be lumping the ball forward with little structure to our play or plan. He ain’t suited to that so he probably thinks what’s the point?

Could be more to it, but for me he’s probably just had a reality check and realised it’s not worth it when we play like we do

Recruitment continues to be a mixed bag. I think Mitchell, Miller and Hurst have earned their corn. Clayton this season dropped off significantly after first few games. Biggins jury out. Maxwell I think is good but he’s made some bad individual errors including last night. Tomlin yes was a gamble but surely we / he must have known in August that he wasn’t physically up to the pro game any longer. Woltman barely touched grass. Andrews crocked almost immediately. Long jury also out.

I'm still confused why we signed Biggins. He didn't perform great in any metric apart from he got a few goals last season, the rest of his game is below average at League One and nothing special at League Two.

Gutted but respect for the honesty, I know statement mentions hip back and toe but wonder if the Bradford player caught him on an already injured bit

Far too talented for league 2. But the mind and body are not up to it anymore. Shame, but fair play to him, he could have just picked up his wages. Club took a bit of punt on him. Didnt work out. Always a bit of a risk. On we go.

It's a bit embarrassing for us. But as other have said fair play to Tomlin could have pretended to be injured or just gone through the motions to pick up the cash.

We've saved a bit of cash here that was in the budget as been spent. Wonder if that makes paying up a certain contract easier.....maybe a silver lining
