Popular Stand (Marshall's Matters)
« on December 11, 2022, 10:26:21 pm by Canadian Rover »
I just finished reading issue #110  of the Fanzine/Popular Stand. The article Marshall's Matters by Rob Marshall really struck a chord with me. There are some fantastic pieces in the fanzine on a regular basis, but Rob (not sure your username if you're on here) the feature you had this issue was fantastic!

Also Glen your editorials are always awesome. Thank you to everyone who contributes to the fanzine.. from many miles away it still offers a genuine normal connection to the club.

Thanks for the reminder CR, I had stuck it in a folder and promptly forgotten about it. It is a good way to connect with all things Rovers. It sort of reminds me of a trip back to Donny a while back, we, my partner and I went for a walk along the river from Hexthorpe Flats to somewhere near Sprotty falls, a nice sunny weekend day and everyone we came across had something to say from 'a lovely day int' it to 'I hope these brakes work' as a cyclist careered down a steep path towards the water. My other half was quite intrigued (she's from the south don't you know) A lot of it is written in a familiar vein.

I was a bit slow to spot this, but cheers for the kind words here gents, I don't think Rob visits this site, so I'll pass on your feedback CR.

It's been an odd year doing popular STAND as it's been really hard to get much engagement back from the bulk of our subscribers despite a lot of effort, making me wonder if it's worth carrying it on beyond this season. So it's really nice to read this, thank you for taking the time to post.

For those who don't currently subscribe to the zine I've put this piece (and a few others from issue 110) up on our website now, so you can read it here.

From one out ‘of town supporter’ who can’t pick up the local ‘rags’ & no longer sees (unfortunately) buying a match day programme, your editorial is my only ‘conduit’ to ‘all things Rovers’ from a fans prospect.

Don’t you DARE ‘die’ before I do!

Agreed! The Popular Stand and Fanzine are how I keep in touch with this club and it’s fans. I greatly appreciate all that you do.

I think that, over the years, I have bought every issue of Popular Stand.  The quality of the writing is, and always has been, superb.  I just wish that I could contribute at that level.  Please keep going Glen.

Cheers all.

This seems like the most suitable thread to make people aware of this…
