He was co-commentator tonight on ifollow, two things.

If he had been in that midfield tonight, no way would we have scored 4 goals.

His comments throughout the game, when prompted, we’re about as illuminating as a tea light in a fog on the moors.

Comments like (after being pegged back to 2-2) “Yeah, we just need to get the ball up to Hursty a bit quicker cos he can go past people” & “Yeah, Molly (Molineux) just needs that first goal however it comes then he’ll be up & running cos he does it in training week in week out”.

Then when he returned after half time he was asked what he thought might have been said to the team in the dressing room by the manager (“without giving too much away”) “Yeah…”  (& he certainly wasn’t about to!) “Just really try & play like we did in the first 10 minutes…you know”.!!

If he’s as inspiring, as captain, to those around him when he does play, little wonder there’s so much indecision & direction shown.

And I trul, truly hope Schofield didn’t say “Just really try & play like we did………”!

Clayton while he is not been good is not helped by the non movement of the midfield

The other midfielders with him probably think the same. If you’re in CM and you’ve just ran past someone you at least want some movement infront/at the side of you… our midfielders pass it back to Clayton stood in between the 2 CB’s. Gives the opposition time to regroup, we then have to try and beat 11 again.

Nothing against him as a person, but I like a starting XI more when he’s not in it.

I thought he was interesting... Rowe was spectacular for insight. But Clayton did talk a lot about Hursts skillset and praised Ravenhill up as midfielder too (although he didn't play) he also wasn't overly kiss arsey to our team on the performance and was very honest.

There has been no better co-commentator the the one and only Danny Amos…. “Pressure is for pipes”

I cringed at the confusion between Jimmy Hill and Benny Hill especially when he tried to do the Theme tune as well.

Just came on to write that, what an exchange…

Clayton - “They should have set that replay to the Jimmy Hill music”
*Silence*
Clayton - “It is Jimmy Hill isn’t it?”
(Robbie Andrews knows it isn’t but isn’t sure/can’t remember the name Benny so mumbles yeah)…
Clayton belts out a quick bout of Entry of the Gladiators, which to be fair isn’t entirely inappropriate given our current situation.

I don’t think anyone was. The announcement sucked the air out of the stadium as the crowd gave a collective gasp. Could’ve heard a pin drop.

Not a ringing endorsement was it?

The sponsors usually choose who they want to meet and looks like thats what happened last night

He made a dig at his critics when Robbie Andrew spoke about Diagouraga and Clayton said he had played against him many times. Something was said about not having the legs he once had and Clayton said it happens to the best of us according to some people.

I don't think it's a question of Claytons legs going, it's a question of how quick they get him from a to b and how quick the signal goes from his brain to his feet.

He's not alone in that department though.

Completely agree. I dont think its just a speculation from fans, its a fact.
