ironic that as he has found some form "some of us" thought he hadn't got .....  Tottenham's world cup final goalie also finds his true form today that "some of us" knew he had and wouldn't even trust him not to "spill" a plate of spaghetti bolognese - if he were a waiter

shame he couldn't do his "weakest link" act for France against us.

Now for the serious bit (allegedly !)

we had a Manu loanee Galbraith last season and we could say Rashford has done reconnaisance of the stadium - pitch - way we play etc (assuming it is his first visit)   maybe he might suggest a couple of kids come our way on loan to his boss   after all Shaun Williams can be a "father figure" to them ???

if you don't ask you don't get

He did finish that chance quite well but it was a great cross and he had no choice other than to try and clear the ball.
All defenders score own goals, some even get more than one in a game.

Played really well. Still not even close to being good enough for a team gunning for promotion or battling for the playoffs.

He was superb today, both defensively and initiating attacks in response to Carlisle's press.

If he could  put in another 20 performances like that, we'd win automatic promotion.

Consistency hasn't been his friend since he pulled on the shirt as much as I would like to eat my words. Even with a fantastic performance he was still partly at fault for the goal. Don't want to take anything away from the teams performance though, worthy of the 3pts and would be nice to grind out a result at Orient now.

The goal wasn’t really his fault. Anderson should have covered that man. The back three got pulled apart a bit with the long ball.

I’ve always said the same thing when it comes to RSW and it’s no coincidence he looks better playing in the middle of a three. He needs to be the main man, whether it be a two or a three. He can’t play as the second defender/sweeper. He needs to be the one on the front foot being aggressive and staying central. Looks like a fish out of water when he gets dragged around and out of position. Good move by the manager putting him central and not Anderson, possibly by default rather than judgement admittedly.

I wonder if it was because his mate Rashford was there watching?

Was he sent to watch us as part of Ten Haag’s punishment lol!

I am another poster glad to eat my words about RSW today - closely watching them warm up today, as I always do, it was easy to see the lad was up for it, barking encouragement, fist pumping etc, etc. Comfortably one of the best centre back performances I have ever seen from a Rovers player.

Respect due to RSW today.

Great centre half play from him today, put his foot through the ball when he needed to and was also astute enough to bring it out of defence beat his man and find a good pass, unlucky with the ball which the forward beat him to for their goal but mistakes were very much to an absolute minimum today.Excellent.

Best game in a Rovers shirt, unfortunately switched off momentarily for the Carlisle goal. All the team played well. Miller is so crucial to how we play as a lone striker, also Molyneux & Hursts ball retention in tight areas are vital

I rather enjoyed him seeing him boot the ball down the pitch when needed! Was good to see!

Nice to see people are open minded enough, to praise him when he deserves it. I hope he carries on putting in good performances. We need clean sheets, we haven’t had enough of them.

Even tho we lost, another great performance from him, MOTM for me. Think it helps him being in the middle of the back 3 which allows him to step out and get stuck in and challenge in the air instead of sitting deeper and sweeping up. Also been very good over the last 2 games at stepping out of defence with the ball and starting attacks.

He can't play left or right side of a back 3 as he's hopeless when he gets isolated one-on-one with the ball on the ground (see goal v Walsall at home recently)

But playing as a proper centre half in the middle of a 3 he's played very well recently and his performances are improving (as a centre half in a back 4 I'd expect he'd be equally effective)

Not sure playing Anderson left or right of a 3 is best for his game either (or Long's). Never mind wasting Knoyle and Rowe there.

With the personnel we have I wish the manager would revert to a traditional back 4.

I think the system we play could be really effective with Knoyle at rwb. Maxwell got forward well at times today.

At times today I saw seaman in positions where I was screaming that should be Knoyle. If it was then think we would of had better end product.

Yep frustrating we can all see that it’s better to go to a 4 with essentially the same players. This would let us either play another midfielder or striker or just play Seaman as a winger and Moly or Hurst as the 10.

I like that the manager has his ideals which it looks like we won’t change. But sometimes personnel dictate it’s better to be flexible.

Remember Fergie insisting on a diamond and we’d be poor getting our player on the wings every game. But almost every game he’d change it to a 4231 when we were behind or just looking poor and lo and behold we’d look like a proper team after that.

A lot of ppl in here were insisting that McSheffrey should’ve played a back 3 with basically the same players lol.

The players are still learning schofield way of playing and the system and every week they are getting better and playing more fluid football, why would schofield then go and change the system and go to a back 3 and have to start all over again, especially when we’re now in the transfer window and he can bring more players in who can play the way he wants to. After the first game under him we all knew it wouldn’t bring instant success because it’s completely different to the last few managers but we saw what he wanted to do, it’s gonna take more time but the players are improving so we all need to keep getting behind the team and consistency will come.
