Does the money carry over?
« on February 01, 2023, 03:26:23 pm by Ronnie Dovers »
It feels hard to deny that we've ended this window with a smaller playing budget than we ended the previous one. The savings on wages (Tomlin, Clayton, Knoyle) on top of the fee received for Knoyle and the funds specifically held back for this window.

So my question is, what happens to these funds we've saved? Do they effectively roll over into next season's budget, giving us more money to play with in the summer? Because it looks like we've got another very big summer window coming up, so surely we'll need to utilise those extra those funds?

We really need to hear from Copps soon, because for the first time I'm finding it hard to argue with those who believe we're being lied to regarding budget, ambition etc.

Could roll over if there’s a surplus. Especially now we’re self funding its not like budget savings mean the owner saves a few quid.

The only way we will see if money carries over is in the summer. When players if any will accept new contracts. What players we can get in the summer to ensure we improve the team.
Certainly would be good to hear Copps views on the transfer business and players contracts also what we intend to do to improve the first team results

I don't mean this against Copps but realistically what do we expect to hear that isn't propaganda? It's hardly going to be the total truth is it? It'll be cliche'd stock statements.

It shouldn’t be but I can see you could be right.

out of interest, I’d love to know which players you think deserve a new contract?

At this moment I’m not sure who deserves a new contract but 2/3 for me and they’re all defenders.
Anderson Olowu and possibly Williams all will have to prove they are up to it. But my problem is our recruitment will we be able to replace them with better we will see.

More I think about this the more it should carry over. If we truly are self funding any saving we make from the planned budget should equal a operating profit, assuming no other disasters. Which can then be spent accordingly without impacting the budget set for the next season

Disappointed if it’s not the case
