I disagree with that.

Not saying Woods is a good keeper, just better than the one we have now.

To me,Woods was a decent shot-stopper and not to bad allround keeper except for his inability to stop long range/high shots, opposition teams who did research on him, knew they had a much better chance of scoring against him with long high punts on goal,I have memory after memory of the ball looping over his head,so much so that I used to swear he must be shorter than 6'.This got me thinking about Stuart Nelson, who I thought was so similar to woods, but an even better very good shot stopper, disappointed when he left us,but also lacked high diving ability to long range shots,I just goggled Nelson and surprised to see he played a couple times for Sutton Utd last year and has signed for Dover,he has made more than double appearances than woods with 550!,did'nt think he was 6'1" neither and im suprised to see he only played 2 games for us,strange how memory can scew,I'd thought he played around 20 times for us?

Willie Boyd (again if my memory is right) wasn’t a tall keeper.

I suspect Gary Woods is a better keeper now than when he was with us. More experienced for a start. Keepers mature later than outfield players. A keeper is at his optimum aged 30-33 I would say where as an outfield player it would be 26-29

If any one thinks Woods was a better shot stopper catcher of crosses than JM is seriously has a poor memory.
How many times did GW spill the ball when diving to make a save and how much did he catch a ball cleanly in the air from crosses and corners?
Compare that to Mitchell and we have chalk and cheese.

Woods was no good and Mitchell is better than him. But surely we should not compare our keepers to Woods? Just because he was better than him doesn’t mean to say he is good enough

We are in League 2

Who do you expect us to sign on a permanent deal.  Thought everyone was fed up of having loan keepers.
If you want a premier League 2nd reserve or U21 keeper he will be a loan. Who is to say they would be better than Mitchell.
Damned if you do damned if you don’t.

we were in league 1 when we signed him. I’ve not said anything at all about loanees. I think every keeper we’ve had since Woods has been better than him and my point is we should not be comparing any future keepers to him on the basis that they will be better than him by default.

Woods was shite, Michell say no more,

If anybody says Woods made more mistakes than Mitchell, costing us goals and points.... then seriously has a poor memory.

The poll won't be very telling as its one vote each !

Someone doesn’t have to board bash to ask the question how have we gone from objective of ‘sustainable Championship club’ to bottom half of League Two and going backwards? A bit of both humility and explanation from the club leadership is probably called for. This is likely to be our worst season in two decades. That takes some doing.

Woods wasn't very good but fortunate to have one of the best defensive units I've ever seen for Doncaster Rovers in that promotion season. Jones head was an absolute ball magnet and Mcombe really excelled in the 2nd half of the season. Quinn & Spurr gave very little away. Woods had little to do most games

Spot on. Good job he had little to do cos the lad was always glued to his line and couldn’t catch cold.
