Picking up on the Defence secretary's statement re the creation of a further 7,000 Jobs ar Barrow in Furness, I note that, the US had had to close 3 out of its 4 dry dock facilities for Nuclear Subs, this impacts drastically on the US ability to build ZnuclearSubs, the dry docks have been identified as in danger of suffering damage due to seismic activity and the US is having to rebuild all three to lessen the risk to the workforce and Public.
That means we will probably see an announcement in the very near future that we will be building Nuclear subs  for Australia. The ZOzzies will be building their own but they will not have sufficient industrial or workforce capacity to cope with building more than a couple over a decade.

So The US,UK and AUS, got together and agreed to supply the AUS navy with Nuclear Subs, much to the Chagrin of China, who have been shouting off that it's a threat to the stability of the region

There is to be a large photo of a sub attached to a fishing boat that will be used as a deterrent until around 2030-40

The US will supply 3 Los Angles class subs by 2030 and BAE will be building the first of a joint Uk/Aus Nuclear sub Class. That could run up to 19 vessels quite a few being built in New yards  Down under.

Cutting the size of the Army today to provide subs for the Australian Navy in 10 years time.

A least Syd will be safe.

We don't need a big army, we have never had a big army, it was oversize in the 70's80's due to BAOR.3 Armoured Divisions in West Germany.we have now got a large Polish Army, a soon to be revitalised and properly equipped German Army and the properly equipped and staffed Belgian an Dutch Armies
We are the Rulers of the Sea! And we need a large Navy and Airforce. Unfortunately Ships and Planes ain't cheap..
