Parking ticket
« on February 25, 2023, 03:31:54 pm by keepmoatman »
My Mrs were at Wheatley Hall Road where she spent 5 hours inside buzz bingo. She admits to maybe forgotten to enter her vehicle reg upon entering the premises. A parking company named CP PLUS  want £60 or delayed payment rises to £100. What's the advice with these guys, pay up or ignore. Thanks in advance..

If she's got anything to prove she was at the bingo, might be worth speaking to them and seeing if they can help?

You could always make the wife pay the fine out of her winnings!

I got done recently at a Travelodge for overstaying by 4 minutes

I knew I had paid for 3 hours because when they got me (on camera) for overstaying I was going out for a few minutes to take Cases to Airport but then I came back and I didn't get a second Ticket for that so their system failed the first time imo

Anyway the way to beat them in the past was to ignore them. A mate is still getting letters from an "offence" 2 years ago though.

However now the tactic is to badger the people where you are parking and loads and loads of Companies have dedicated Departments to write to the Parking Co to quash the Tickets

I badgered Travelodge telling them the Parking Co were peeing me off I would stop staying there and they got the Parking Co to waive the Invoice

Try looking on Martin Lewis as I found hundreds of Companies that should be willing to help you , their Customer , and that seems to be the tactic now

Have a look at a site called Pepipoo it's a fight back forum, they give some very good advice and sometimes that might just be hold your hands up and pay! But give it a go you might see a post that had a similar situation to yours and a solution.

Pepipoo and others are good and provide Template letters etc for people appealing

It is important to realise these Parking Co.s are issuing Invoices not Fines (they would come from Police and Councils)

As such you can write to the Parking Co and tell them you are simply not going to pay because " insert why here" and there are many multiples to go at

They seem to make their money by a certain percentage of people being scared into paying to get rid of them

When 80% or so (I'm guessing) don't pay or say they won't , they then have a choice

Keep sending threatening Letters escalating the amount each time and adding Costs etc. They send Solicitors Letters , usually it's them via a disguised address and new Letterhead.

They threaten to send debt collectors round or Bailiffs something I don't think they can do because until they take you to Court and win you don't owe them anything

So all that comes off their "profits" and if they take people to Court and lose their Case they will incur costs far more prohibitive than they would want.

Again I don't know prosecution rate nor their success rate but I would guess .... Very low .... And very low

Hope this helps and others will no doubt add to and / or correct my summary

The company has to be a member of a regulatory body to be legal, if you have a good case you can appeal to them and they will adjudicate, over staying at Bingo is not a good case!
However if your missus can prove she was in the Bingo, and I assume they are electronic machines, she needs to get the proof and send her Bingo receipt to the parking company, if they don't cancel, seek recourse with the regulTory body, you will win.

Thanks for the replies. My dear lady contacted buzz and they confirmed she were there on the night in question. They were helpful in that if she takes the letter plus her member card I they will email said parking company and get the fine cancelled... Result!!

I’m glad you look like getting the ticket revoked.
Out of interest, are there any signs saying what the time limit is for parking there.

Good news ... But being pedantic it was not a Fine

They only come from Police or Councils.

It's an Invoice (but you have downed it by hopefully going down the route I suggested in Reply #3)
