He pulled up early 2nd half chasing a through ball, holding back of his thigh well before he went off.
Just read on twitter he's in for a knee op

Another great window. Another ageing striker we've signed only for them to hardly contribute and then be ruled out with injuries. See Agard last year.

Might as well pile up £75-£100k cash and set it on fire instead next year.

That's rubbish - Miller out, now Lavery - we really are struggling. I think Lavery has the potential to be good for us, just like Miller - if that dipstick would have just played them together!

I get the point about aging strikers, but it's a balance - we do need some experience with youth so it's a risk you take, but losing both is really unlucky.

Lavery born 22/10/92 signed Jan 23
Agard born 10/10/89 signed Jan 22
Both were over 30 when they signed but not exactly ancient

On the topic of our recurring injuries . My dad made a comment not long after the move to the keepmoat , that the playing surface was very hard, compared to a normal grass surface . Given that rovers train on a proper grass pitch and play on something quite different . I’ve often wondered if it’s a factor . A bit like a tennis player training on grass and playing on clay. Maybe not as severe but you get the gist .
I wonder if there has been any proper analysis into this .?

Agard's older than that. Born 1989.

Time to give the young lad Goodman a go. Nothing to lose as we’ve nothing to play for the rest of the season and see if he can step up. Best time for young players this is.

Very difficult to put a young lad in if DS insists on one up top.

Kuleya needs to come back, and choose between him and Goodman to play alongside Agard.
Swap them out when they have run their race.

I don’t know whether you noticed Raven, but Lavery hit a shot on the turn over the bar just after half time and he fell over and stayed down for a short while holding his left knee.  It seemed that it was the reason he went off.

Yes there has, and no, nothing to do with the hardness of the pitch. (Well, that's what I was told when I asked that question)

Wasn’t there a rumour that he failed his medical which is why the signing was later than expected?

Aren't most professional club pitches hard nowadays? I'm sure I heard it mentioned on commentary on one of the televised games.

Our pitch does seem to be quite hard. The ball seems to bounce extremely high on it compared to football I’ve watched at other grounds. Whether that’s causing injuries though I don’t know.

The lighter ball is much more bouncy.

everybody in the division has lots of injuries

someone on here said Northampton had .. was it 10 injuries when we  played them

I saw this about Tranmere just after they had sacked Mellon

"Managerless Tranmere Rovers have signed free-agent midfielder Florent Hoti on a short-term contract.

The 22-year-old Kosovan has been on trial at Prenton Park after leaving Scottish club Arbroath, where he made seven appearances this season.

Previously, he played two EFL Trophy games for Rochdale in 2018-19 before moving to Dundee United and Forfar.

"It's no secret that we've got an extensive injury list at the moment," said Rovers caretaker boss Ian Dawes."
Mansfield are the same lots of injuries and  only have a 16-17 man squad .

it makes sense that if you are going to get super fit players "tuned to the minute" then they will easily get injuries   playing in slippers doesnt help

Not necessarily best time for young players when in the current situation we are in. If we were a team where we have met expectations and can't go up or go down then it can be good for young players to get a run out. But with the club in the position it is between now and end of season there is going to be some toxic atmospheres the young kids might be better off kept out of as they will be nervous as it is never mind with an horrible atmosphere.

This is all just giving DS an excuse to see the season out losing and playing crap. He’ll have a point for these games but the prefomances wouldn’t be much different with a fully fit squad

DS said in a recent interview that Lavery had been carrying an injury… as had Miller and Biggins and in continuing to play they had all eventually been ruled out for the season.

Rovers sure know how to pick a striker in January

Alfie May (Jan 2017) - 10 goals in 92 league games - Deemed surplus to requirements but has made it work big time at Cheltenham
Kieran Sadlier (Jan 2019) - 14 goals in 47 league games - Struggled to make a fist of it any higher than L1 level. Now on loan at Orient.
Fejiri Okenabirhie (Jan 2020) - 14 goals in 44 league games - Released after repeated injuries. Has started 1 league game in 3 years
Devante Cole (Jan 2020) - 0 goals in 9 league games - Failed miserably, but at 27 years old, Barnsley's Michael Duff is getting a tune out of him
Omar Bogle (Jan 2021) - 3 goals in 27 league games - Ostracised by Wellens, has rediscovered his scoring touch at Newport
Mipo Odubeko* (Jan 2022) - 2 goals in 16 league games - Loanee seemed out of his depth in L1. Has scored 4 goals in a mixed loan spell at Port Vale
Kieran Agard (Jan 2022) - 3 goals in 31 league games - Not a lone striker and not fit enough to last more than about 60 mins.
Reo Griffiths (Jan 2022) - 2 goals in 20 league games - Farmed out on loan to relegation threatened Yeovil where he has made 2 sub appearances
Caolan Lavery (Jan 2023) - 1 goal in 12 league games - Injured and will be lucky to make the start of next season.

DMnumber4, how many of those appearances you mention were games that the players started and got more than a few minutes at the end of games.

It's a statement of fact that Kwame Thomas scored 3 league goals in 5 league starts for us in League One.
