Actions speaks louder than words. Could this just be a PR stunt to get season tickets purchased??

Time will tell.

Why make this statement now? I think it’s to try settle the unrest with fans, however O don’t think it will

Potentially great news, however the issue is that unfortunately we've all heard this time and time before. From being told that we will bounce back divisively to then learn we have a budget that is around the middle of League Two. Somewhat cynical I know, but I can't help but think this has been released to ease some of the pressure on the board ahead of potential for protests by the fans and the scrutiny each post the club makes on Twitter etc.

This has been in the offing for months, it has nothing to do with relieving pressure.

Then this very much begs the question, where was it in January?, when all above were making plans to spend to push on for promotion we did the complete opposite and looked like we were planning for the next season.

Did we miss our big opportunity given that this league is so poor this season?

No I don't think so.

And this is my take on the situation, not the clubs, but;

I think it became apparent after the window closed that we were well short. But at that point there's little you can do to affect the outcome. It was a question of waiting and seeing if DS/JC could give the push needed to get into the play-offs, but with clubs around us splashing the cash it looked unlikely.

Its then that you accept you have to spend much more, and then its a question of when do you announce that? If you do it too early you kill any confidence or chance that the players have of making a success of the season.

That's fair enough SM.

I'd like to think that if i was in TB's shoes at that point i would of been making it crystal clear that ALL the footballing management would be now on notice for next season, if improvement was not there then i could not possibly be giving these any more money, in effect throwing good money after bad.

I would of also been trawling the boards for a prospective new manager.

I find it odd that a major policy statement like this is made by TB and not the Chairman.  What tf is Blunt paid for?

I share others' concern that it is clearly stated Schofield is to be retained for next season... "he will be given the opportunity to move forward next season with the additional resources provided by Terry".  This also appears to answer another question posed on here about who puts in additional funds.  Blunt himself singling TB out as the person stumping up for the shambles that has been this season.

I’ve bought my season ticket for next season and so have my family & friends. I know there are lots of interpretations of this gesture by TB and lots of suspicion but, for what it’s worth, here’s my view.

He owns the club and has put in millions over the years to keep us afloat. This injection of cash seems to be a statement of intent for next season so, in the absence of any evidence to say otherwise, I will take this at face value and say thank you Terry, I hope it works and that we have a great season next season.

I hope it’s all genuine, I have no reason to believe it isn’t, so I’ll be there next season, as always, cheering on rovers and hoping for the best. Fingers crossed we can get out of this situation and start being the club I know and love! I am not in a position to dictate what we do as a club but if this works we’ll all be much happier, won’t we?? If not, then let’s hope we have a plan B but, until then, I’ll give the benefit of doubt to those who are in a position to influence our future direction.

Frankly we are all terrified about how this yet more generosity by Terry is going to be used / wasted. Which aged journeymen can be recruited on high wages? How long this summer will our fruitless search for a striker last? What last minute loan signing can we recruit to warm the bench?

This precisely is my concern.  However, the problems at the club appear to be far more than insufficient funding.  By his statement TB has decided that funding is the problem which in itself only suggests that we've been fed BS for a considerable length of time.

Believe it when I see it, remember that statement at start of season saying we were pretty much going for it.

This has been in the offing for months, it has nothing to do with relieving pressure.

Like, why has it 'been in the offing' ? What was preventing them from doing this previously, and why weren't they transparent about it? I think my point here is that it's frustrating for things to feel this bad (yes, I said this bad) for some sort of action to be taken. It does seem convenient for something like this to come out when fan engagement is at rock bottom, particularly as we approach a new season. I really, really hope this is genuine and that a significant sum will be invested however for anybody to have 0 scepticism of this is naive at best. I (we) would love nothing more than to be proven wrong!

Ps, obviously non of this is aimed at you SM. Just making my point.

This is good news, I think tb has followed through with what he had said in the past, even if the fans haven't liked it, ds for me has been poor but has had no money to get the right players in, so for me he should be given a chance

This initially sounds like positive news for once .
But, and it’s a massive but, there has to be a big clear out come season end and a very very positive recruitment of players that can cut it at this level and then some , and then they have to adopt DS process and it has to be successful . The board have nailed their colours to the mast . Talk of promotion push is what we want to hear. The proof will be in the pudding though. 10 games in next season and little change from where we are now and there will be a shitstorm .That’s quite a few planets that need to align .

Great news however agents will be aware of this too which may put the price of players up.
I think along with this we should be looking to appoint a new chairman who can help oversee things with Copps

I think the difference this time is it's Terry himself that has said it not Gavin, hopefully this gives everybody a welcome boost. I haven't yet renewed my season ticket I will wait until I see where the funds go.

With a decent budget it makes it a whole different ball game when it comes to recruitment, a bit like being able to spend from the luxury catalogue rather than just wishing, with quality comes better football, and the moaning stops. Mind you that is determined by what substantial money invested means.

And others are just pessimistic by nature.... and voice it at every available opportunity.  To be fair pessimists are usually right and optimists are usually wrong........... but only great changes are accomplished by optimists.....

Yeah because maybe every single thing that has come out of that boardroom has been a total lie for the last 5 years. You can walk around with your hands over your eyes if you want too and believe the 'in the know' people on this forum, I choose not too. Once bitten twice shy. In fact fifteen times bitten....

the only way to settle unrest is to sack dull Danny. He’s past the point of no return.

Good to hear. Let's hope we can spend it wisely. Now the pressure is really on Schofield and the team to deliver next season. A wobbly start and there's the door.
Its fantastic news that Terry Bramall will go even further to help the club , But ! Is Schofield the right man to use this new investment. His current team selection has left most of us very unimpressed!!

Is it all smoke and mirrors covering the season ticket short fall , the numbers will be greatly down after the disappointing performances and abject lack of effort and boring spectacle of games.

No more  new deals should be offered in my opinion on the current squad let’s clear the decks and then put some pressure on the players who are here for next season and not make them automatic starters.

If loads more get new deals then we are still stuck with some garbage who are conference standard

It is a positive though the extra investment could be to cover the shortfall in ticket sales and lack of expected income from cup games in which we failed badly this season. Disappointing to see the Chairman is still in place, and the manager to some extent whose negative and naive style of play have driven people away from the club over the last few months.
If significant investment is there, then some of it should be utilised bringing in an experienced manager.

Said exactly the same thing December 2021 about major investment...nothing happened and we went down. Don'tbelieve the hype, they want your season ticket money.
