Copp’s power
« on April 07, 2023, 06:51:10 am by Branton Rover »
He obviously knew what he was doing when he spoke to the press about our present budget and how difficult it was to do his job with one hand tied behind his back. Congratulations to Copps for successfully lobbying the club through the sports pages of the Yorkshire Post which has prompted the change of emphasis I have been waiting for.

Now for the hard bit James bringing in the players to achieve the intended goal of promotion, the real question is Schofield going to blow the investment by not being adaptable in changing how he wants the team to play.

My preference would be for an experienced manager to take the reigns in the summer but that won’t happen my hope therefore is Danny comes good because if he doesn’t he’ll be out in early October and Terry’s investment will be squandered.

Like I said at the time, there’s no way copps would’ve said all that without him already knowing we had the injection of cash already in place for next season.
Contracts to olowu, Anderson and hurst are probably only because of these extra funds too

That's a good theory.

If you ignore SM telling us it's been in the pipeline for ages.

this made me chuckle. We really are going to get sucked down this rabbit hole. It’s really is remarkable, and come October when he inevitably gets the boot we’ll be back to square one writing off another season. We really don’t learn anything do we.

When Schofield was appointed I said I thought we needed a Job description for both Copps and DS. People said it was obvious that Schofield would be just the coach and Copps would do the manager job.

As Schofield has a veto over player signings and blunders his way through any questions which relate to management and we only hear from Copps occasionally Schofield is the de facto manager. So I don’t think Copps has much effective power at all.

How many ambitious players could listen to one-dimensional Schofield and think that he would aid their development as a footballer?

Whoever he might sign would soon have any natural talent suppressed and they would be unlikely to be very sensible in the first place not to realise the mistake they were making.

Both Coppinger & Schofield should go.
Who is in charge of signings, tactics, formations, style……?
If we had one person doing the above then the decision is straightforward - having 2 makes it a complete utter shambles - like the football being turned out right now

How many of the January signings would we have signed if we had the money then?
