Camps

For any style of football, the goalkeeper needs to have his throwing and kicking distribution up to professional standard.

In the recent Northampton game, their goalie was hitting it long perfectly to the physical striker up top. Mitchell couldn’t do that, more likely to find someone in the dugout.

If we played in a counter attacking style, he wouldn’t have the speed of thought or vision to pick a breaking player out with a throw.

Even in terms of pure shot stopping, statistically speaking there are 20 goalkeepers better than him in the league.

I’m amazed at how you can continue to defend him.
He is told to kick it out to the wings though isn’t he.  We don’t have a physical striker for him to aim at.

Look I am just saying he is not the only player sub standard up in the team. He is making alarming mistakes
That’s due to lacking in confidence.
DS has turned the whole lot of them into wrecks.
We play without a credible plan. The players are confused. Their confidence and belief has totally been blown out of the window.
Mitchell’s mistakes are magnified because he is the last line of defence. No I am not defending him ncRover,
I am just pointing out that he isn’t the only one messing up that’s all.
I agree his distribution is a big problem and has always been a problem since he signed.
Why it’s not been sorted, well we need to ask DS and Bennett the keeper coach.

Fair enough Camps.

I’d just like a reassuring goalie who can command his penalty box and the defence. His mistakes have ruined a fair few Saturday afternoons for us now - I think that’s why I’ve got wound up about it!

I think Mitchell has the defence and us fans on edge all the time. I agree with you on Schofield but blaming goalkeeping mistakes on him is a stretch. Mitchell should have it within himself to be confident and concentrate more.

A good goalie is more important than we realise. I think is it respectful to the position to say that and that it’s a lot more than just stopping shots.

If i was a player and had a choice of going to either Bradford City, Stockport, Salford, Mansfield, Carlisle or Doncaster ( assuming non of those teams go up ) with same wages on offer who would I choose?

Seriously do I want to play for Hughes, Challinor, Woods, Clough, Simpson or Schofield?

Which Club looks the most ambitious, which club has a Manager with a CV with success on it, which manager plays attacking exciting football and which Club has got a positive vibe throughout the Club?

I know which one of those 6 clubs I wouldn’t choose.

Copps has got one hell of a sales job to do on potential recruits  this summer.
Understatement.   ;)

Maybe people can now understand why Knoyle may have said that he wanted to join a club who had more ambition.

Mitchell has only been poor this last 2 months.
The stick he is getting is not imo justified. Yes his distribution is shocking. Who tells him to play it out short?

How many of the others in the team are playing well. How many mistakes are they all making.

Singling out Mitchell and making him the scapegoat is very harsh.
It is what DF did with Stuckmann & now our supporters are killing Mitchell
Is it any wonder he is playing like a nervous schoolboy. His confidence must be absolutely shattered playing in this team and for this Coach.

Short memories here. He has made some fantastic saves this season.
Won us more points than he has lost, that’s for sure up to late February.
Playing in this team has killed him as it has all the others.

Blame Schofield he is in charge. He is setting the team up and telling the players what he wants. He is supposed to be the motivator.

I despair at times. Goalkeepers always carry the can don’t they. Well it is out of order. There are 11 players in the team.

I think you're wrong. But that's OK we can disagree and I can understand your viewpoint for sure.

I also would keep him on as a back up goalkeeper by the way

Absolutely hound.
Stockport are a club on the up who are ambitious.  What are we, how are we as a club perceived from outside.
I don’t think we are a good look at present. A Club on a downward spiral with no obvious evidence to suggest we are going to turn this round any time soon.

Sounds like lots of fans won’t be coming next season, never mind new players

players have signed new contracts because they want to play for this club and the manager. If they didn’t they would’ve gone elsewhere.
To suggest we’re not an attractive club for a league 2 player is just negative nonsense

Ok then. It’s negative nonsense.

I am not getting into any more arguments with you ok.
Think I remember saying that before some years ago.
