They sure have, I dread to think what the score would have been if we had played them in an FA or FL Cup game last season.

Not a fan of City by any means, but they brought the term ‘Beautiful game’ to life this evening. Also fantastic for the  England lads Walker, Grealish and Stones to perform at this level and win. Stones in midfield was magnificent.
Anyway Grant will have us playing like that next season, (apart from the fannying around at the back bit)

3 days before we beat them they played Bolton at home in the PL in front of 43,000. I doubt they’ve lost 38,000 of those fans since then.

Arguably two of the worst ECL semis ever screened. Both so one sided. Absolute yawn fest. Can not get lezzed up about Citeh! Like a previous poster has said. It’s simply what you can do with a bottomless pit of Arab money and pay lawyers to get you around FPP. It’s just embarrassing it’s taken them so long to buy their way to ECL glory. Come on Inter!

Away at Rochdale in the early 90’s a couple of us went in their club shop for programmes and a badge, I held the door open for someone coming out and it was my all time football hero Colin Bell.

Come on, DonnyJim, you have to admit that was a treat on the eyes (and I’m no City fan, either). They absolutely mullered Real tonight. It’s not like they were playing Arsenal!

Sorry mate - Citeh were okay but it was Real Madrid that were truely abysmal from the start. You could see the space they were giving them was a disaster waiting to happen. I knew it would happen as they are an aging side. I think we could have beaten Madrid tonight.

They would have only won 5 or 6 nil. They’d have played their under13s.

We beat them 2-1 only 18 months ago, mind you it was their U21's!!

They are still on the hook for cheating aren’t they? Facing charges for financial doping. They were a modestly successful club that wasn’t even ever the best club in their city, let alone the country, for decades and decades until the foreign cash came along. I don’t see anything to celebrate with them. A curious passion and emotion free zone. Take the cash away and they are Chelsea. Mid-table also-rans.

Cheats, in a league full of cheats, the PL and CL are irrelevant circuses.

Yes, I agree. They may be an aspirational model of how the game can be played but behind the scenes they are far from it. It's a richer to even richer by any means story rather than a true rags to riches story where everything that goes into success is hard earned and more reflective of the communities the club represent.

I disagree. They have a lot less plastic fans than Man U and Liverpool

Yes probably am being harsh, it's the amount of people I know who have suddenly popped up with man City shirts claiming to be long time man City fans when even just 10 years ago they never owned a football shirt, and never been to a live game.
But every club has them I suppose. We probably would if the Hollywood duo had bought us and not Wrexham

I find them completely soulless and dull to be honest.

I know this is all completely based on narrative, and I respect the fact that some people enjoy watching a team stuffed from 1 to 11 (and the rest) full of the world's best players (plus manager) at the cost of billions become an almost machine-like juggernaut designed to play with the utmost precision, but it does absolutely nothing for me personally.

I appreciate that they are the absolute elite of the elite, and in terms of football ability they are second-to-none, but that's not personally what I watch football for. I've been watching the EFL and non-league play-offs and have found those a much more compelling prospect in comparison.

It had an air of novelty about it when they first got taken over and started to win things when they'd previously been starved of top-level success, but now, however many years later, there's nothing that I can personally get enthused about with them. It's the way I felt about Chelsea when Abramovich and Mourinho first went in there, and suspect something similar will happen to Newcastle in time.

I wouldn’t say they were signed as the worlds best players at all but have collectively came together under pep to become a relentless machine. This side would be up there with his Barca side that again were breathtaking.
Staggering to see a manager not rest on his laurels and change style of play 3/4 times under his reign in order to stay on top. The best signing city ever made was bringing in pep he’s revolutionised English football. We can all make arguments about spending money but spending money doesn’t ever guarantee success just like at the likes of Chelsea and United who are miles off where city are on a performance level.

The first half from city was unbelievable, one of the best performances I’ve seen. Against the current champions of Europe
Certainly a lot better than ok

Forget about the club and just appreciate the football played. I thought it was a great game to watch and Citeh were superb. Had it been the other way round I still would have said the same.
I can only watch one club with passion (and that includes the England team) and that is DRFC.
Objectively I can enjoy watching  a team play great football but at the end of the day it really means nothing to me.

Oh I've got nothing in particular against Man City as a club, don't get me wrong. I just don't find them that interesting to watch. It's almost too perfect. I think I referred to it before as machine-like. Might sound silly but surely it can't just be me? Maybe it is.  :ermm:

So do I but I'd love us to draw them in one of the cup comps, especially if it was at the ECO-Power.

We’re all entitled to our opinions. As a football fan I absolutely loved watching them last night, it was breathtaking. I do appreciate the resentment at how they’ve achieved their success. But I can honestly say I didn’t watch that game analysing how they’ve brought in the players they have, or chuntering to myself about how their history or commercial viability isn’t as solid as say Manchester United who have all their fans to fall back on from Thameside to Tunbridge Wells and beyond. I just enjoyed it for what it was, a quite brilliant footballing display.

I find football and money annoying, if the ownwers have got it why stop them for spending money, it is a competitive game and whoever has the most money gets the best players, but, the fair play is basically playing into the hands of the old guard that have always been the top clubs, again if owners have the money why stop them spending it.
However if like Leicester City, Southampton, and Leeds United and Barcelona are caught with your pants down spending money you have not got and cheating the other clubs, the authorities will do everything they can to keep you in the competitions when plainly according to the rules they should be expelled from the league if not out of receivership before a certain date as all three clubs were guilty of.
Relegation this year could really be Karma for some of us with long memories, if only they had been treated like Chester, Bury, Hereford etc. the game and some small companies would be far better off.
So, in short spend money you have got because you are rich is wrong, spend money you have not got is still wrong, but doesn't attract the same publicity or wrath of the authorities who will bend over backwards to help bankrupts of a certain size, if you are a small club start again at the base of the pyramid.
Manchester City are a great side, and to watch as well, and they are upsetting the old guard of British, German, Italian, and Spanish teams that has been done before by Ajax, Stau Bucharest and Yugoslavian sides that caused the formation of the Champions League, because it upset the apple cart.
Having ever richer owners is the latest fashion leaving the Juventus, Manchester United, Real Madrid, Barcelona, Munich etc cartel behind, hence the new league being put forward.

They are are a very good side, not a patch on the Barcelona side, that even Man Utd’s great sides of the time, couldn’t put a glove on.
To be compared to them they will have to win a few European cups yet.
