"Despite a reported seven figure investment into Doncaster’s playing budget for next season they are still unable to compete financially with some clubs in League Two."

Interesting statement to make in the DFP, Wrexham we know about, Bradford have a cart load of fans, who else?

As the amount of cash injection has NOT been stimulated it hard to determine the actual amount being invested or loaned . The type of  signings made suggests that it’s a reasonable amount and competitive for L2.

What we have got is probably one of the top 3 managers in the division.

Going up.

Important to manage expectations.

Wrexham, Notts and Gills top 3 on budgets.

Then we’re probably even financially with another 4 after that.

But there’s more to it than money and we do have one of the best managers and a nicely balanced squad with good depth.

Need to see what business the other clubs do before predictions I think.

Terry has again been more than generous. We’d be in an even better place if May and much more so Whiteman, got a wriggle on and ditched their respective clubs. Messing around in late June still. MOVE!

Wrexham, Notts County and Gillingham will have silly budgets for this level, but there's more to it than who can spend the most. I think we will have another 2/3 come in before season starts and we will have a very strong squad.
There's rumours Leicester looking at Whiteman he's the one we need to go and then hopefully McCann has a bit more to play with. There will be some more good players come available when other teams start to strengthen.

The sell on figure for May wouldn’t make much difference to our situation.

Whiteman however… Although I think our business apart from maybe Ironside back up is done. The rest could roll over to next season.

Business has been good but I can’t help but think McCann was a tad impatient on the goalkeeping situation.

Stockport and MK Dons to the list.

Last season would have been easier to get promoted.

Budgets are all speculative at the moment and will remain so until all EFL clubs submit their proposals to the EFL itself.

Grimsby are the value for the title in L2. Gillingham and Notts county the dangers. Honourable mention to Stockport.

Ah the DFP, never one to put a shadow over things eh?!??  This isn't really a surprise. All it says is that there are some clubs that have more money than us - twas ever thus. There'll also be clubs with less than us, but I guess that doesn't make a headline. More catastrophising by the media - crisis, emergency, doom, dire consequences.

Whether we have the most money or not, just step back - is everyone happy with what Grant and the team are doing? Are they getting in the players needed? Yes! So what's the issue???

Terry’s investment is magnificent but the difference is as been said the McCann factor - looking around the division there’s very few who are of his experience and had the success he’s had - remember also apart from the Championship experience he’s had he also won League One despite the fiasco of the Alam family.

Pretty sure miller will be the back up to Ironside if Mccann goes with his 433 that we’ve seen in the past. An Ironside Miller top 2 would likely only be used if we are chasing a game I would imagine.

Personally I’d use Miller as a wide forward pressing and making runs in behind before I would use him as the only centre forward. That being said Schofield was the grim reaper for strikers so you’d expect his game to improve.

I'm surprised no-one's mentioned the other part of the article, which says that our best chance of "upsetting the odds" in the promotion race might be the form of Taylor, Anderson, and Rowe.

Wow. I think Steve Jones needs a dose of happy pills.

I agree with you Monkaster, about the manager.

However, why the sudden reference to ‘Are you being served’?

The squad we had is better than what was achieved last season imo. GM would of had us around the  play offs. We was top half when DS got the job an  he just drained the confidence out of  them. Get close confident an  Taylor fit an  there is 2 top l2 players. There won't be many teams want to play us once we get going.

Maybe he thinks we'd get more investment if Grace Brothers joined our board.

I think the vast majority of league one would struggle against the finances available at Wrexham and Notts County, and possibly Stockport. Let’s be fair to TB, the vast majority of his time we have also been one of those bigger fish.

To be fair some of our competitors for promotion are strengthening with players with a far better pedigree than we are. Hopefully we've uncovered some gems that can produce more than they've done before.

Is it true John Ryan has gave the club 750k to go and get a striker out of it?

This is concerning me. Our signings seem decent on paper but not outstanding. I’m still hoping there is enough in the budget for a real match winner or two. A wow signing that the rest of the league is wondering how we’ve pulled it off. We still from what I can see, haven’t replaced Tomlins ability around the box.

I'm a little concerned we're just strengthening in numbers so the cover is better. I just don't think our first choices will be anywhere near good enough for the top 3. I think we'll hover around the play offs though. I'm just worried our business is done and we still only have a rookie with any pace and no real goals in us.
