Looks fit, slimmer & more determined the change in the lad is there for all to see - we always thought we’d signed a decent player but thankfully we now have an experienced head in the dugout to get the best out of him. He looked really up for it tonight in the new look forward line. He has tricks up his sleeve but didn’t overdo it, he was really direct tonight.

100% - absolutely; thought that too.

The way he finished on Saturday was clinical. The first was flushed; goalkeeper didnt move.

The second was calm, composed. Never ever going to miss.

I remember him joining us and taking time to score and lots of questions.

Three year contract was a inspired decision and I guess that was GM knowing what we'd got with Molyneux.

Sharp and Molyneux - 6 goals and 3 assists so far is scary stuff.

Absolutely correct, he just scored in each of the following 16 seasons, a club record

What's impressed me is that he's largely doing the same things he always did but much better.  He has always had work rate and largely kept plugging away, but he's now got players round him that take attention which has freed him up a bit.

The most impressive thing is his composure.  He almost tried too hard sometimes and was hitting shots in to the stand etc.  Now he's taking that split second more time and being much more accurate.  He's also massively improved his right foot and going outside defenders rather than always inside.  A prime example that sometimes players get better and as a club we need to be improving players.  Hopefully he keeps doing brilliantly and either moves up with us or someone pays good money for him.  I still think it's mad nobody at the top end league 1/championship didn't take a punt on him in the summer.

I see a possible theme here, with players improving and having their best seasons under McCann, especially attacking players.

First time round it was Marquis, Kane and Wilkes (although he went on to better things at Hull, ........... also under McCann)

This time Adelakun, Ironside, and Molyneux spring to mind, along with Bailey, Maxwell, Craig (who IMHO would have improved anyway), and maybe McGrath and Kelly to follow

He and Cliff do seem to have an excellent record in developing and improving players, and getting the best out of them

They will have had him on shortlists but gone for other options most likely.

I think if he was 22/23 years old rather than 26 turning 27 we’d have had no chance. Clubs seem to be shifting recruitment younger nowadays.

Absolutely this Dutch. It’s pretty obvious it’s down to McCann and his coaching/training methods, that we are seeing players like Luke, flourish.

Of course it helps with better players around him, but Luke is a totally different player now to the one 2 years ago. Him Sharp and Gibson could do some serious damage this season, and although I’m sure Grant will continue to rotate, that front 3 has to be best front 3 in league 2 this season.

Definitely Cliff and Grant have the knack of getting players up and running, developing and coming good. Love that.

Not sure if a few Carlisle fans said his attitude changed when he knew he was off elsewhere (including a piss up before a matchday), didn’t help they lost a lot of games too, some even mentioned he doesn’t like/play well in cold weather! Hoping with a winning mentality at the club Gibson will keep his head in the right place and get us on our feet on many occasion.
