Legionella on prison barge
« on August 11, 2023, 02:38:13 pm by albie »
After all the kerfuffle, it seems the water onboard is contaminated;
https://www.theguardian.com/uk-news/2023/aug/11/legionella-discovery-forces-asylum-seekers-off-bibby-stockholm-just-days-after-arrival

It seems a pretty basic requirement to me to make sure this was not an issue, but what do I know?

Here is what they were saying 2 days ago:
https://www.theguardian.com/uk-news/2023/aug/09/uk-asylum-seekers-who-refuse-to-live-on-barges-could-lose-government-support-bibby-stockholm

What a set of grifters at the Home Office!

They did tests. Only they couldn't be arsed waiting for the results so went ahead with boardings! Incompetence of the highest order. But then what do you expect from this bunch of ragas Tories?

It makes you wonder why asylum seekers would actually WANT to come to a country with absolutely no future due to Brexit, and led by such an incompetent, racist government that only cares about the rich.

I think you've just  inadvertently  made a case for how desperate SOME of these people are to escape from their origins .

And why would they want to pass through other, surely more compassionate countries, risking their lives travelling 50-odd miles on dinghies in extremely dangerous waters, in order to go to a country with absolutely no future due to Brexit, and led by such an incompetent, racist government that only cares about the rich?

If you want to make anyone other than your disciples laugh, Billy lad, I suggest you stick to the politics. We can all join in then!

While you're reading this, As one of the bigger boys, do you think you could come up with a better answer than any of your disciples?

BB

There are many reasons why asylum seekers would specifically want to come to the UK as opposed to other countries.

Maybe they speak English and not French.

Maybe they have relatives here.

Maybe there's a community here that they could lean on for support.

Why do you always have to polarise every single exchange of views?

So, did Albanian asylum seekers' use of the English language triple between 2021 and 2022?

...And, irrespective of that, why would they want to pass through other, surely more compassionate countries, risking their lives travelling 50-odd miles on dinghies in extremely dangerous waters, in order to go to a country with absolutely no future due to Brexit, and led by such an incompetent, racist government that only cares about the rich?

You've also got to factor in that the traffickers are also sales people and no doubt in this despicable industry there will be competitors .

Part of that sales technique to rid people of their money or loan them the money would be to paint a picture of the land of milk and honey and desperate people tend to believe many things that will give them hope or hope of a better life and future .

I understand through a Polish lad I worked with who turned in to a very good friend that Polish TV was full of advertisements to come to the UK , they showed the Docklands , country pubs , riverside restaurants  Buckingham Palace and footage of the Premier League .

There are too many people against the ‘hulk’ idea for it to be successful. Anything that can be used to make another Tory f**k up, will be, as usual.

So, if that's the case, any of us Brits who think our country has no future due to Brexit, and is led by an incompetent and racist government that only cares about the rich, should absolutely discourage any asylum seeker from coming here, for their own good?

So, meanwhile, while we're making the country a better place, we do nothing about the asylum seekers being misled by traffickers into believing our country is not dead in the water due to Brexit, and is not led by an incompetent, racist government that only cares about the rich, and hasn't got a famine problem going on of its own?
