West Stand Lino
« on August 16, 2023, 08:00:48 am by Donnywolf »
Barely put a foot right all night

He was quick to spot which way the Ref was signalling throws and agree though but , did
d anyone spot his strange signal in first half . Right by SW corner flag where I guessed he didn't know if it was a throw to them or a corner to them

So he pointed flag towards South Stand but not raised as he would for a throw in.

It was parallel to floor but parallel to touchline but not pointing at the Corner quadrant though.

There were some bizarre decisions all round last night
What was the delay for at the start of the game ?

One of his ‘offsides’ was hilarious, second half. You could hear the laughter coming out the West Stand.

Very late with some of his offsides.

How many threads have we started over the years berating the West Stand Lino? Ridiculous how many of them can be shite at their job and still keep getting gigs.

Fergie had the right idea.

Immediately before the second equaliser we should have had a corner, the Lino was only ten yards away and the defender clearly got the last touch.
He signalled for a goal kick.
A minute later they scored, when we should have been taking a corner.
I’m sure he also missed three certain offsides too.

The delay at the start of the second half was for a hole in the net (not the ones that are meant to be there) at the bottom left hand corner. It looked as though part of the netting had snapped/torn

Sorry Glosterred it was the start of the game I refer to, not sure if it was the post on the netting they put up in the warm up that was left up - can’t see why though but they kept pointing to the North Stand

A clip had come out of the post, making the net gape a bit.

The teams seemed to have got into position a little early. I checked my watch and there was still a minute to go before k.o.

Not sure he was even watching the game to be honest. He deferred to the ref for practically every call, even incidents that happened 2 metres away from him.

Know what you mean now, the net that’s behind the practice goal that’s suppose to stop wayward practice shots wasn’t completely taken down, there was one post with the net wrapped around it left up.

That’s because the east stand Lino gets a free run of cocking it up as there are fewer supporters to see them fook up

I was watching on ifollow and it definitely looked like a goal kick. Arguably a foul on Roberts and he ran to the referee appealing afterwards - if he’d thought it was a corner I imagine he would have turned or ran to the lino instead.

I was watching from about 30 yards away and directly in line, it was definitely a corner.

I've posted this before but it sprang to mind with your Comments

Lots of Home dug outs are positioned in same Half of field as the Lino

When Adkins took over at Scunny their Dug out was not in the Linos half , so he had it swapped asap so they could quote " get in the Linos head"

I was about twenty yards away, was definitely a corner. Also one of the Mansfield players pushed one of the Rovers players aggressively directly in the face, attacking a corner in the first half, a red card if you’ve got VAR. Having said that a draw was more than we deserved, Mansfield schooled us football wise, as much as it pains me to say.

Anyone ten yards away who can also confirm? ;) Just watched it again and to be fair I’m slightly less sure than I was, but Roberts’ reaction (running to and arguing with the ref, not even a glance at the lino) still looks as though he’s complaining about not getting a free kick rather than a corner.
