A great sport journalist. In an era when I have lost a lot of enthusiasm for a range of sports due to the commercial aspects and behaviour or the participants I remembered when I re-read some of Parky’s books how it was once possible to enjoy it all and worship our heroes. He really did write as a genuine fan.

A truly brilliant interviewer because he kept his own ego under control. He did nothing but open the space for his guests to open up. It was never about him. And as a result, he became the master.

RIP.

His Peter Cook interviews were incredible.
Parkinsonism couldn't keep a straight face, you could tell he really enjoyed them and they bounced off each other.
Parky kept inviting him back for more.
RIP

Wssn't it after an interview with Ali who had lost it a bit during the interview, that according to him his Dad said that Parky should have stuck him one on?

Back then with fewer channels and less ways for people to get in front of your screen, A-list really did mean A-list and he was one of the best. Even when more and more channels and shows were on show he still held that grade. How many top 100 TV moments contain that Emu moment....
