England U20s
« on November 16, 2023, 09:23:40 pm by glosterred »
Just got in from the game and I’m not sure any of those that played for England tonight will be starting for their home club any time soon. Don’t think they had much of a clue in the final third. But entertaining nonetheless. Italy looked a well drilled side that took the few chances they had.

The biggest cheer was when a paper plane landed on the pitch, hopefully they won’t bring that to Rovers home games.

Bit harsh glosterred.
Think we had some very talented footballers out there tonight.
Didn’t see the team names but no 3, 8, 11 in particular were very impressive.
We just didn’t have an end product to all the good build up play but that has to be in the main due to a very well drilled, organised Italian defence.

They took the lead in the 1st half a bit against the run of play although the 1st half was fairly even but from then on the Italians in typical style said “ though shall not pass “
England must have had 75% possession in the 2nd half but I think we only had 1 shot at goal.
That’s even worse statistically than Rovers 61% possession over the whole game and 2 shots at Wimbledon.

Archie gray is only 17, and was the best player on the pitch, and is playing now for Leeds first team.
Going to be some player

Sam Edozie Also playing week in week out for Southampton, looked very good

Organised chaos outside the stadium with queues back to White Rose way with cars trying to get into the car parks.
The main car park is for car park ticket holder at Rovers games but tonight they were charging £3 this cause long delays getting into the car park.
We got into the ground 5 mins after kick off. There were people still coming into the ground 25 mins after kick off Due to a huge queue at the South stand turnstiles. Obviously far more people turned up for the match than were expected it would seem as the South stand had to be opened. Gate was announced as 4.700 I think that’s way more than originally was expected.
A large number of the kids in the ground were more interested in throwing paper airplanes with the intention of landing them on the pitch.
Can someone tell me what the parents were doing. Well I can, absolutely nothing. Where is the discipline.
Don’t want to sound like old fuddy duddy or a killjoy but seriously I thought we were all there to watch the football not fool around.
If parents are incapable or have no intention of controlling their children then quite frankly there is not much hope for society.
Why was kick off time was not delayed I don’t know.

Didn’t recognise Archie Gray. He looked taller than that when I have seen him on TV playing for Leeds.
Only thing I would say is his reluctance to use his left foot unlike his Grandad and Grandads brother.
He was very right footed. He had the opportunity to get 2 shots off with his left foot tonight but was reluctant to do so.

I wanted to go tonight but had to work late, sounds like we struggle a bit to organise things for these international games. Remember being stuck in traffic approaching the ground for an hour before the Women’s game against Latvia, was 6-0 by the time we got in, saw plenty more goals as it happened. Not saying that was necessarily Rovers fault but all parties need to get their heads together, else we might lose the privilege.

You still saw 16 goals. Don’t be greedy how many goals do you want to see.    :) :) :)

I was there that night. The entry into the car parks is ridiculously slow.

Maybe the problem that have arisen with both the women’s and the U20’s men’s matches about parking is that majority of the crowd don’t go to Rovers matches and don’t know where else to park. A lot of these supporters won’t be from the Doncaster so will have Googled the ground

Camps, I thought that women’s game finished as 20-0, not 22-0 as you are suggesting.
I lost count after I had both socks off so could be wrong.

In the match day guide issued by Rovers they stated there was no on site parking for this match. We parked elsewhere only to find some people were allowed to pay to park in the stadium car parks. We tried to go into the empty Belle Vue Bar only to be prevented from entering as it was for players families only. There was no mention of this in the match day guide that Rovers produced. The lack of information and misinformation from Rovers is very disappointing.

I thought vandalism and theft were bad but making paper airplanes! This truly is a new low and the death knell for society. Should be an immediate lifetime ban for both the parents and the children and ASBOs all round.

 ;) :)

No 3 Lewis Hall - Newcastle
No 8 Archie Gray - Leeds Utd  - Andy Grays lad
No 11 Sam Edozie - Not sure who he plays for

No 6 and Captain is Ronnie Edwards who plays for Peterborough

Edwards finally got his big move. Off to Southampton for a big fee. Yet another windfall for Peterborough. They do good business constantly.
