Tom Anderson

The decision to give him a new contract was swayed by pure sentimentality and nostalgia wasn’t it? Now look where this wishful thinking has got us.

Yes he was part of a solid defence previously at the top end of league one but he has looked ready for the wrecker’s yard since then. He can’t move.

We have to be smarter.

And now we’re stuck with him for another season and a half. Christ alive.

I think he is injured. McCann was trying to put on Will Flint late in second half.

He is typically one of those players who have had that many injuries that their legs can't do what their brain is telling them. He has heart but, hes just sh!te.

We barely touched the ball. The problems are much deeper than one player.

A lot of people were surprised when we gave him a 2.5 year deal, after our defensive unit has been so terrible for so long. I suspect it was purely down to there being a complete absence of original thinking of what to do with our defence other than tie down the existing players again.

This makes for cringey reading. McCann back in May wanting to build a team around Anderson Rowe and Taylor.

Sounded fascicle at the time. Even more so now. Every decision is sentiment based. Anderson contract, GM coming back, Coppinger HoF. We deserve what we are getting sadly. Shambolic running of a football club.

Can’t afford sentiment if you want to be a winner.

2 other sentimental contracts - Lawlor and Jones.

Both here until June 2025. Blocking a new GK completely.
