Waxwings in Bentley Scawthorpe &

Armthorpe

Anyone noticed them or small crowds in unusual places in any of the above. please and if so where

Looks like people confusing Scawthorpe and Bentley though as birds seem to be on Amersall Road near Broachgate I think

I'm not a twitcher but I do like an unusual bird. Saw a Little Egret this year while walking and dozens of Buzzards.
Waxwings covered my car in birdshit once. (That's not the name of an 80's Indie band btw).
I didn't hold it against them though as they are interesting looking birds. A bit like Peter Wright the darts player with a bit more class.

About 4 years ago a Rough Legged Buzzard took up residence behind where I live for a couple of months, twitchers from all over came to see it

Bugger bugger bugger .... opposite Well / Tesco next to Doctors there are 2 Rowan trees . I couldn't get there till 3pm and t-o-o late

There had been a dozen on the biggest tree but they had gone presumably to roost . Fella said they'll be back mate .... early doors best

But early doors tomorrow I'll be off to Hull

However there were still lots of Berries on the big tree many many less on the little tree.

Reckon early doors Friday they will be there and I spotted a White Berried Rowan tree behind Doctors which I hope they find as it is groaning with Berries and White berries seem to be their favourites

Got our own resident pheasant in the garden who keeps sorting out the squirrels. Fun to watch.

Anybody who IS interested I have been again today and there are 15 + Waxwings in the High Street at Bentley

They dont come often in such numbers and Google them and look at the Photos of them which might persuade you to invest a bit of time.

Location exactly opposite Tesco Express - in someones Garden which has a big Rowan Tree and a Rowan bush. there are loads and loads of Berries and that should keep them going for maybe a week so plenty of time

However behind that house is a cul de sac (Cooke Street) and in it is a Rowan Tree with White berries which I am told they love more than the orange berries

Also great to meet someone who reads this Forum but doesnt post and had spotted this Thread a few days ago

For anyone interested I went to Hassop Station in the Peak District today. Saw about 70 Waxwings eating berries in the trees on the Monsall Trail. Only 20 yards or so from the cafe.

Great place that. Only time I ride a bike these days is there.
I've got a rowan tree in my front garden with loads of pink berries on it.
No sign of waxwings so far.

Stay patient TT

I've never known so many sightings in one year . Literally they are everywhere.

If you have Berries they will come , and if they missed them on way down , they won't miss them on way back

Worth a look if people haven't seen one . Brilliant bird I last saw in irruption ( as it's called ) 15 years ago

Photos please wolfy?

I took some but they are pathetic at best. The light was terrible as well. Best thing is look at Google images or better still look at the photos on this Facebook Page

https://facebook.com/groups/214355264013107/

Look at how good they are (both the birds and the photos)

This would explain the 3 fellas with long lens cameras taking pictures of chimney tops in Bentley I saw on the way to the match today.
Must say I’m not familiar with said birds

Have a look at Facebook Page "Waxwing sightings 23/24" or something similar

30 photos by a Paul Bell of the Bentley Birds and they are fantastic . Recommended
