McGrath looked excellent, Craig looked lost, especially first half, Waters has that nuisance effect, I’ll reserve judgement on Carty as he never got enough minutes

Mcgrath looks a unit.

Though craig grew into the game and looks like he could become a very tidy player.

McGrath had a good game.

I never make judgement in one game thrown in like that. We don't often win when new signings get thrown in

McGrath and Waters looked very promising.

McGrath is a big lad, calm and composed on the ball, won his headers and left footed which is a bonus.

Waters worked hard, has an excellent first touch and provided a bit of class in an otherwise moribund match. Feel his substitution was probably pre-planned due to a lack of match fitness but would have liked to see him given another 10 minutes at least.

Craig unfortunately was very poor. Looked lost and gave the ball away frequently. Thought Broadbent and Biggins (who both played at around their usual standards) contributed more - which says something. Really needed to be subbed much sooner. Hopefully he'll improve as he settles and gets more up to speed with his new surroundings.

I disagree about the lad from spurs craig. I thought he looked very tidy and composed on the ball. The only player on a similar wave length as close in terms of a footballing brain. Quite a few passes he made that opened up the space in the middle for us. Kept the ball for pretty well. Broadbent on the other hand looked lost. He can’t move. And gives possession away cheaply. Miles from being dynamic enough to play in a McCann midfield. Says it all when Broadbent was hooked for Biggins and Craig was kept on.

McGrath- now he looks like a proper defender. 3 or 4 crunching tackle and a great last ditch block in the area.
4 crosses came in in the first 6 minutes and we cleared them all…. Normally we’d have been 2 down

McGrath played well but hardly put under pressure apart from the first ten and last ten minutes.
If he does as well Tuesday v Wigan and Wyke then we can start to think we have got something.
Newport didn't try to win the game, just waited for us to lose it.

Thought McGrath looked composed and did what was expected from him competently playing against strikers like a Wyke or Cook would be the acid test for him, i'm quite sure a fit Faulkner could have had the same impact today. Looks a good acquisition.

Waters looked very promising to me, his touch was very good and used some intelligence to be in a good position in the first half to create half a chance with his diving header, on another day possibly with match fitness he could have scored, looks like a player who would benefit from playing close to Ironside in a front two.

Craig had a quite game and showed glimpses of more composure and intelligence in that one game than some others have shown all season(yes i'm looking in your direction Broadbent and Biggins)plenty to come from him i believe and he will be a decent acquisition.

Would like to see more of the other striker, hopefully get some time against Wigan?

Think we still need that experienced old head to shore up the middle and affect a tackle in midfield.

Newport never pressed the man with the ball in our back line, just funnelled back into their own half putting bodies between the man with the ball and their goal with banks of four behind a two just keeping us moving the ball waiting for us to make a mistake.
They were happy with the slow pace of the game, disrupted any breaks with the tactical foul, and just kept us at arms length, we should have scored but we rarely do to change their approach to the game and open up.
We had no creativity in midfield at all, and apart from just a few moments they were comfortable knowing they could force it late on, which they did.
We are easy to play against, Notts County took the ball off us and we couldn't get it back Harrogate and Newport just waited for us to shoot ourselves in the foot, we are a poor side, sometimes very poor , mentally and physically not good enough, with soft pretty players in positions good sides can't afford to have them.
