Agreed. I’m not sure who is worse - him or Micky Walker

Ooh, that was inches wide....
"Mmmm yes, a foot the other way and it was in the back of the net"

I might be biased but I’ve known Catty over 30 years & used to sit next to him on the supporter’s coach. For me Pete is more switched on than Mickey Walker who is a bit  of an exaggeration merchant, some would say bullshitter.

Peter Catt’s association goes back ni on 60 years with DRFC professionally. His voice can grind but does know the club inside out.

Ps has he mentioned Glynn Snodin yet?

He might be a lovely bloke mate, and he definitely does have knowledge of the club.....but it's hard work listening to him for 90mins, never mind a 4.5hr trip to South Coast.

I know I wouldn't have sat next to him on the coach twice, hats off to you sir  :scarf:

As above, nothing against the bloke I don't know him personally.

He’s actually got a really good dry sense of humour.

Not being funny mate but isn't all that true and only what someone in the stands might say.

I imagine it's hard to be civilised, honest and sensible with all your comments for 90 minutes while omitting all the effing and blinding and general heat-of-the-moment b*llocks.

I must admit it's something I've never tried, but I give full credit to those who have.

Yes it is, but that's why they are in the stands not being paid (I assume its not voluntary) to commentate?!

Fair enough pal, was a bit tongue in cheek to start. His knowledge can't be knocked thats for sure.

Agree, I wouldn't be asked to commentate more than 1 game!

I noticed that a couple of times he referred to us as Doncaster.
When Mickey Walker does that he gets slated for not saying us or Rovers.

No one can knock his knowledge, but he does have a voice ideally suited for his career as a print journalist

Yes I also noticed that. Don’t go down that road Peter. Stick to Rovers (and us/we).

I know his voice can take a bit of getting used to. But he’s a writer don’t forget. So give him a bit of slack. He’s one of our own. Generally he says the kind of things we’re all thinking. I think that’s all right.

I have known him and was friendly with him 50 years ago when he already reported on Rovers . He does not use today’s jingoistic commentary speak but his knowledge and attachment to our club is undeniable.

His name and job always make me think of ‘Fats McCatt, the very famous sports reporter’ from Kicker Conspiracy by The Fall. This can only be a good thing. I’d have it as the anthem at England games.

I clicked on this thread thinking we had a new signing    alas it was an Accrington Stanley Milk Advert moment

" who the hell is he ?"

I misread the 50 years bit thinking initially he was claiming 60 which was impossible

As I have mentioned before 60 years ago that paper "boycotted" for some reason a team called DRFC

Was he the first one to report on "us" when the "Boycott "ended ?

When the Doncaster Free Press was free going back to the 1950s it was largely full of advertising and independent. However there were Rovers reports in it occasionally. I think this would be before Peter Catt’s time as a journalist.
