Expectations

Looking at the run in till the end of the season, not many frightening teams left to play, all very winnable.
Without getting to carried away, how many points can we achieve from the games left?

Are we 13 points off relegation and about 12 points off the play-offs. Just want to see a strong finish, would be happy to finish around mid-table.

Not getting carried away like, and the players shouldn't get complacent, we need to show up in the next game.

IF we win every game we're in the payoffs!!

But like WR says, a good striong finish is what we need to enable us to kick on in the summer and for next season, regardless of where we finish.

Let’s get safe as early as possible, then start resting the lads that need a break and shipping those off for operations as early as we can. We’re not going up and pretty much not going down. We should be in mindset of preparing for next season come Easter.

I'll settle for top half of Table as lots of people ploughed bets on early doors

I stand to win 77 quid but that's chicken feed compared to others

I think we’ll finish around and about where we are, maybe a few spots higher. Next season most important.

There's no way McCann or the players will give up till the end of the season. As said in other threads, the goal has to be to finish as strong as possible and hope we can carry on the momentum into the summer recruitment, being a team on the up.

Anyone who’s watched Rovers for any significant length of time knows that any game is loseable and any is winnable. It doesn’t matter where the opposition are in the league.

We need summat like 30 points from 14 games to finish in the top half. It is very, very unlikely.

There hasn't half been some rubbish served up by the team and by the supporters the last few months but it has been edifying to see that at no stage has McCann come in for stick. Think we can all be proud of backing him all season and not just after a few good results.

How likely did you think it was we’d win 5-1 today

Depends where we look of course. There's been a bit of stick on other other channels but the recent poll on here showed overwhelming support for McCann. We're now beginning to see what a real McCann team looks like.

15th or above would be a solid effort considering. Definitely want to be finishing higher than the previous season. When was the last time we did that?

We appear to have finally bottomed out and be on the rise again. Well done all for seeing it through, it has been a very tough few years.

With regards to where we finish? Top half is still very difficult and unlikely.

Those in it are doing ok enough and are a long way off.

Then Salford and Newport are flying. Tranmere also doing pretty well and have an easy next few games.

We can definitely overtake Swindon. Perhaps Walsall and Crawley who have 6 and 7 points on us but have a game in hand each.

As I said before, the minimum has to be to finish above the 18th place we did last season. We need to be a club that others look at and see as one on the way up.

We need some performances against teams in the top half.  It's all about building momentum for next season.  Having a good finish to the season gets us set for next year and makes bringing in new players in the summer a better sell.

Not going to get carried away.
Get a win v Wimbledon and a draw at Walsall and I will then believe we have really turned it round.

2 wins and 2 draws from next 4 games is what I am hoping for same as we achieved in the last 4 games.

So wins v Wimbledon H & Colchester A and draws at Walsall A & Bradford A
But 7/8 points in those 4 games whichever way it happens will be a serious statement that we are a team on the up.

We should not get carried away with the last 4 games unbeaten.
We were awful at Sutton and got out of jail with that penalty.
Massive improvement in the last 3 games of course but we do need to keep this going. It’s no good picking up 8 from 4 games and then only 2/3 from next 4

It’s foot on the gas from now until the 46th game.
We need players we want to sign in the summer see that DRFC is a team that has serious aspirations of being in League 1 in 2025/26

Just realised the Crewe game at home comes before Colchester A
So would take a draw in that one but no reason why we can’t win.
They are a very good side but not unbeatable.
If we are at our best we can beat anyone in this league.

Things could have been so different though at Sutton had we been given the two pens that looked stitched on. Had our players not been fouled goals would have probably been the outcome anyway as both times we were in great positions to score.

We’ve played Tranmere and Salford in this spell who are amongst the form teams in the league.
I don’t think it matters where teams are at this stage if the season as the teams down the bottom are battling for their lives. Every game is tough

Exactly. We're approaching the final lap when statistical form means nothing. Stockport and Notts Co are wobbling, whilst us, Salford and Tranmere are on the up. It wasn't too long ago we were odds on to win the league and get promoted and we nearly came a cropper.

In a way our positive posters are no different to our negative posters. We win and suddenly things are rosy the board is full of we can beat these easy we'll finish top half we might make the playoffs. We lose and the doom mongers are out in force we're sh!te relegation fodder sack the board etc etc.
Calm down people let's get this season out the way and hope that there is more optimism than gloom next season.
Just enjoy supporting your team either way

We should aim to do what Gillingham has done in the past 18 months. I am sure it was around this time last season that Gillingham started their strong finish to the season and now they are in play off contention this year. That is what we need to look to achieve for the rest of this season and moving into the next.

Let’s not get carried away. Yes we won 5-1 yesterday but it was properly in the balance from 10-45 mins in the first half. Could have gone either way at that point.

Just relieved we appear to be safe

Colin, yes there was a spell in the first half after Grimsby got back to,2-1.
Earlier in the season I really do think that they would have levelled up and probably gone on to win the game.
However our new found resilience kept them out.

Second half we never looked in bother though and took the game away from them really well.
