After yet another sheff Utd hammering last night I saw a comment on X about how depressing football currently is in South Yorkshire.Sheff Utd - getting hammered every week even at homeSheff Wed - Started off so poorly and didn’t win for a long timeRotherham - Currently around 19 points adrift of safetyDoncaster - Currently a few places above the relegation zone to the national league.Whilst ourselves and sheff Wed have picked up a bit, football heaven especially has been a depressive listen these days and it made me think when was the last time that a lot of regions clubs all had bad seasons at the same time? Barnsley are the only decent one this year
They are definitely not in South Yorkshire, but Radio Sheffield covers them equally and some folk take them as South Yorkshire - Chesterfield are storming away to the National League title. With 10 games to go they are 17 points clear and have a game in hand on second placed Barnet. They are scoring on average 2.5 goals a game and should easily breach 100 goals for the season.
