Great news. Really hope he can continue his valuable contribution for much longer.

A bit of a dichotomy, this one. I'm delighted with his form for us but this maybe makes him harder to secure in the Summer, adding to his perceived value and increasing competition for his signature.

Isn't it about time we did a variation on this classic for him?

I think it’s highly unlikely we will sign him, he won’t or perhaps shouldn’t drop down to league two as much as I’d like to see him sign I can’t see it personally. It’s not skill we’re lacking its physical presence and desire to run Through brick walls that we’ve missed ever since Rob Jones departed our club, it’s our soft underbelly that’s made us vulnerable something that has been rectified by pairing Wood with Anderson at the back has certainly gone a good way of remedying our frailties.

Agree on the physicality but I think Adelakun’ s skill has also been really important- he has made us more dangerous in attack and I don’t think it’s a coincidence that players like Biggins have improved playing alongside.

You’re right about the physicality but that and skill aren’t mutually exclusive. We were missing skill such as Hakeeb’s IMO.

He has transformed our previously slow and predictable attack. Ironside was isolated before and no one ran in behind. The attack was more of a problem than the defence for me.

He didn’t pull up any trees at Gillingham in this division last year so I don’t think it’s unrealistic we sign him.

I think this is similar to the Ben Whiteman loan, he has had that much of an impact we can't afford to not sign him really.

Imagine come the summer we replace him with a 12 year old on loan from Brighton, and Hakeeb goes on to Grimsby for example, there will be riots.

I feel like this would be a good move for him and for us. He’s wanted here and playing for a manager that can get the best out of him, having also built up that trust in the spell at Hull. We just have to hope there isn’t an agent in his ear trying to push him elsewhere. The experiences he’s had directly before coming here ought to remind him that it counts for a lot to be settled and happy, as I imagine he is here at the moment.

Absolutely, Jon. Let’s hope the lad sees it that way, too. After all, signing for us doesn’t put him in a ‘straight jacket’ wrt moving on higher up the EFL ladder. We’ve long made it clear that we don’t stand in player’s ambitions, but, in the meantime, just get your head down and become the player that you want to be, at a Club that has taken to you and under the stewardship of a manager that clearly understands you and what makes you tick.

No brainer!

Whiteman wasn't that great on his loan from memory, weren't people calling for Houghton to be signed instead?

Guess it will all be down to money, if reports of how much he is on at Lincoln are correct

Also with the Whiteman comparison, there was a significant chance that signing a young, talented player would be a safe investment for the future. Adelakun, given his age wouldn't be the same proposition. But would still be a valuable addition to the team! I just wonder if this form continues, he'll be on the radar of L1 clubs, never mind L2 clubs.

Whiteman signed six months before Houghton departed. We didn’t see the best of Whiteman until McCann came in and transformed his role. Ferguson seemed to be confusing both Whiteman and Houghton. Both top players and not surprised to see them doing well in the championship.

Not sure anyone is expecting him to be a fan. But there could be something in the wanting to play football part of professional footballer. Whilst we can’t pay silly money for doing so, he wouldn’t be on a pittance would he?

Is he really going to get offers that much better than we we can make? Yes he’s on a bit at Lincoln we couldn’t match but they don’t want him and it’s likely anyone else who cou,d pay that much wouldn’t either.

Add in that we are local for him and I think we’ve a chance of making it happen. Jon Taylor must be on a but and has hardly played. His contract is up so that would go most of the way to an offer for Hakeem

I think he will sign up with us, him being wanted by the club will mean a lot to him. He “Knows the area, so it makes signing for us much easier than going elsewhere.

Biggest concern for me is the exposure this gives of Haks. I’m sure he’ll be on the radar for a few clubs in L1 and 2. Now really is the time for Grant and El Tel to earn their stripes and convince him this is the club for him.

It would be massive confirmation of TB's committment if we sign him but knowing our luck we sign him and he gets a serious injury in his next game.

He’s had an interesting career, participating in almost as many league games as a sub (114) as a starter (128).

He’s also for the vast majority of his career not managed to get through more than half of league games each season, either as a starter or sub.

2021/22- 23

2015/16 - 21
2014/15 - 32
2013/14 - 28
2012/13 - 2

Not sure what that says. Injuries? Volatile form? Unlucky with managers?

To the tune of “is this a library” he should have his song, “Hakeeb Adelakun”.
No complicated words.

Let's see how he performs in the remaining games to justify the investment. He's made his mark but can he be a consistent performer?

elementary dear Watson   i intended to post "the same" saves me the trouble

in fact as we all know Mrs McCann said her husband was never as settled and happy as when he was managing us for the first time

Everytime i watch highlights this bloke is always making things happen, wanting the ball, pushing forward, looking to attack. He really seems to be enjoying his football & playing with confidence. ✍️ quickly.
