Jos van Nieuwstadt from Excelsior Rotterdam and Jan Budtz and his mate I think were both signed from FC Nordsjælland.

I used to play for a cricket team called Ajax (who also had a football team). They are based in Oegstgeest just outside Leiden and are older than the Amsterdam club who had to ask the Oegstgeest club permission to use that name. We played against Excelsior and Sparta (the football clubs also have a cricket team). Two of the Sparta cricketers I knew were on the Football committee and they knew the old English third and fourth divisions inside out - that is where they mainly scouted - and they knew many Rovers players. It was weird talking in detail about Rovers in Dutch

I thought Ignacio Linares Ybarra was a semi-pro footballer in Spain who was in the UK as a student and phoned to ask for a trial. I thought he was a decent player for that level.
