1.Which of our players from last yr (that we still have) could be classed among the L2 best in their position from what you saw?

2.From the opposing team last year who was the one player you would sign if it was up to you?

For me:
1. Ironside, Bailey, Molyneux, Maxwell
2. Crewe Captain No5 Demetreiu

Three I liked… Louie Barrie, Max Dean and Keillor-Dunn. Maybe Rob Apter as well.

Agreed with Maxwell. When both were fit I was amazed first half of the season McCann appeared to prefer Senior

Rob apter was on loan from Blackpool, be interesting to see if he’s in there plans if not I’d be after him

Against I always thought Cornelius looked good in a bad side for Harrogate and ran things v us, Nolan for Accrington similarly looked good playing with rubbish. Jodi Jones ripped us a new one v Notts County away, although that may have been our worst performance all season.

  The biggest influence on our season was not individual players as such, but a change to more basic defending and clearing our back lines and getting the ball forward quicker.
  The style change suited the players we had at the club much more than the slow build up from the back and we made chances in the oppositions area and on the break we were not doing early in the season, and because of this I would say that our central defenders were the most influential part of our system especially in the long run of victories and they are by no means our greatest gifted players, much like Huth and Morgan were not for Leicester City but the most important part of the teams with the keepers Schmeichel and TLT.
   They allowed the others to play, and when we were abject the first half of the season and they were asked to do what they were  poor at, the rest were equally as poor or missing from action and we looked amateurish throughout the team and nobody apart from Ironside stood out, and Faal was our best attacking mid fielder.
  For the first half of the season there were very few sides that we played where the oppositions player in the same position I would have not swapped for our equivalent apart from Ironside, the lot were mostly poor and fighting relegation.
  The only two players at the club you could realistically say had had a good full season were Bailey and Ironside to me the rest were poor the first half and decent in a different system the second half of the season that suited their ability better, and some players fitness levels were higher.

Not quite sure how you come to the conclusion Harrogate Town were a “Bad side” last season.
They finished mid table. They had one of the best away records in the league.
Saw them play v Gillingham on Easter Monday and they tore them apart 2nd half scoring 5 goals after being 1-0 down at H/T

You're right Camps, I've got a soft spot for Harrogate and 'bad' definitely unfair - I meant more a side with less resources / on paper poorer individuals, but they've overperformed last couple of seasons and become our bogey side for now!

Was not Maxwell injured for quite a long time in that period?

Maxwell, Bailey, Molyneux and Ironside all proved they were at the top end of their trades in the second half of the season.

Elsewhere, a player who you can't help but admire  who always dies what it says on the tin and more, is Paddy Madden. Just when you think you've seen the last of him, he goes and signs for Chesterfield.

By the time that fixture comes around, we'd better be ready!!

Nolan just signed for Gillingham. They might be a force to be reckoned with this season.

Smith from Salford took us apart at home, October player of the month EFL div 2 and in the EFL team of the season 2023/4

  They laid down and gave the big lump every chance and the room to smash us in more games than was healthy for the club the first half of the season

  No it took five months injuries to certain players and a change in style of play to sort it out.
  Non of our midfield players would have got in many second division teams midfield before Christmas Bailey the only exception.
  We were in the bottom four of the lowest league in the EFL you know and losing support from the fans.
  To add to the players we had a board member and a couple of staff  that was of no help whatsoever to the playing management and indeed probably caused more problems for them than we realised.
  Only when Mr Bramall took over control was the team management allowed to perform as they wanted to, the combination of those events changed the outlook of the club.

Come on make your mind up 1st it's the midfield then it's the managers fault for setting the team up wrong then it's the board . And a couple of members of staff
A couple of players being injured would one of them be Close by any chance? When you get it in for someone you don't let go, reminds me of your opinion of Alfie and look where that got you
Bailey was playing centre half or right back during that period.
