I doubt that there'll be any senior players there. It's usually a team of youngsters and fringe players that play pre-season friendlies at Thorne Coll.

I can’t remember the circumstances but I was in Rovers dressing room at Thorne Colliery circa 1991/2. Remember being presented with a miniature Doncaster Rovers locomotive plaque by Peter Wetzel. From memory Andy Crosby was there with Eddie Gormley.

It's not the first friendly as it happens. The opening pre-season friendly is at Stamford on July 16th.

The fact that the Thorne match is the day after more or less confirms that it won't be a senior X1.

Well worth a visit if KO time compatible for you.

However Thorne is being given a new Mains Water pipe as the old one had been bursting almost every day , so it's traffic chaos

Easy bypass, jump on Motorway get off at Junc 6, go down Selby Road and turn right just past Fishlake Motors into Moorends, or go past Range Warehouse into Moorends
