Whether people rate any of that group or not, McCann signed or re-signed all of them. Close will not have been a cheap option to renew and again, people might rate him or not, but McCann is not going to use a decent chunk of his budget to sit on the bench each week. All of that group are senior players. They are not going on loan. Adding another player into that group is madness.

I was hoping we would have moved Close on at the end of 22/23 however he was a different player when he came back, that said I’m not 100% certain he can emulate Matty Craig who after a few games of meh was outstanding. That said in Grant we trust

Point understood and I’m not disagreeing in principle. But you would often point out that our squad was too big and it would be mad to add more last season. In the end we went mad, secured some key additions and made the play offs.

Imho, no. Not all 3, anyway. I think we are a ‘Craig’, or the ‘Craig’ away from having a very good squad. It’s good now, but to be champions, I’m not so sure.

Keeper - unknown quantity - another factor to throw in the mix. We are all hoping that he is as good as TLT, but until we see him?

Sbarra - not up on my National League sides and have never seen him, but going on all reports, we should be ok with him.

Clifton is another I didn’t take much notice of, when we played them last season, so we wait on that one.

I think Yeboah could end up being our ‘surprise package’, as nobody really knows much about him! The front end of the team, on paper, looks very exciting indeed.

Sbarra had some problems last season but if we can get the 22-23 Sbarra then he'll be one of the best #10s in League Two, potentially the best.

Close, Westbrooke, Broadbent, Bailey, Clifton and Sbarra. How many central midfielders do people want?!

Another one

Jordan Gibson spent half of the last 2 years at Carlisle playing central midfield.

Starmer had ‘issues’ when he joined us. Some thought we’d got a player that wasn’t worth giving time to. How wrong they were.

Time, patience, understanding & belief.

That’s what GM had in him.

Paid off in spades.

Trust the manager, not the ‘part time Football Manager’ to**ers.

Mind elsewhere, Colin? I guess Adelakun did play on the left wing…

And he had more joy when drifting in to the centre

Only looked good because the other options were terrible  ;)

This could always change but McCann said this week at the AGM that we've done our incoming business. Nothing coming in to the midfield group or elsewhere:

"No I think we're done now," McCann said when asked directly about more incomings. "We're happy with who we've brought in and it's now about moving a few of the younger ones out on loan in the next two or three weeks. These lads will go out, it's about making sure they're right moves."

I'm sure if he spoke to McCann and wanted to come back the club would look at getting a deal over the line , or if anyone outstanding became available the club would it's best to sign them
