Joe Ironside is forced out wide but picks out Jordan Gibson in the middle. He spins on the ball and slams a low shot into the bottom corner

Isn't it refreshing going for more goals. Glad proper footy has resumed.

Is the Thorne game tomoz just gonna be the u18s? Surely no first teamers will play on consecutive days?
anyone got any inside knowledge,  not sure I fancy it if it's just the juniors?

Think jones will be in net as he hasn’t played today plus maybe the 3 players who missed today add in the subs that may not play much, add in the u18 players

Put it this way, Adam. In previous friendlies at Thorne, we've always sent teams of academy and fringe players. Also, as you say, no senior players will play on consecutive days.

Adam, my mate who is part of the Thorne set up told me yesterday that Rovers team is expected to be mostly U18 lads.

Good to see Miller back in action.

Just out of interest, note Bradford lost their first pre season match at Garforth 2-1 after going 2-0 down. Chorus of booing at HT and FT. Trialling centre half on show so maybe their recruitment is well behind ours.

And they laughed at us for signing Jordan Gibson.

Can't remember players getting 60 mins in their very first friendly of the season. Normally 45 mins? That must highlight the Portugal trip being quite intensive, which all bodes well for being the fittest possible when we kick off in anger. Providing we don't suffer more injuries of course.

Going on Ricky Charlesworth’s summary - young Flint showed up well in the first session and he appears to have filled out a bit through the summer.

Hidden gem? or unknown quantity?

They had an 11v11 on the last day in Portugal.

Answering DBR’s 45 minute periods!

I think tonight shows the strength in depth we have. We had 2 x 11s there that should be able to more than compete in this league. What a squad we have assembled.

Roll on the season!

Flint looked way older than he is. He looked good. Steady run out for everyone. No dramas just nice and steady.
Good to see Billy score. Gibson played well. Maxwell took a bit of a clattering. He might be sore tomorrow

Flint was excellent. Maturity beyond his years. Get him signed up for 2-3 years. Young Sam, another one who played well. Get him signed up too. They are our future along with others. Gibson and Yeboah are going to be good signings. Hurst played well. I was more impressed with the 11 that played the second 60 mins.

Just to be cautious, it's only a kickabout for fitness, but their midfield had the better of the 1st period & they caused us problems getting through so easily, with better finishing they could have easily had 2 or 3. Sharp kept dropping off to receive the ball & get us going forward. They played the better football in that 1st period.

Selby has been telling us for yonks how good Flint is.

Flint & Brown played really well. Gibson & Yeboah will cause teams problems, very quick & direct.

They had a good first 10-15mins. Then couple of half decent attacks in first half.
Yes it was afriendly. Nothing wrong with praising who played well.

This was our first pre season practice match.  I think it was Stamford’s third.
