Of course, I was talking on here not long ago about seeing him play against us for Scunny and Peterbro.

Slightly off topic, but I recently discovered that Jimmy Greaves played against the Rovers for Chelsea at Belle Vue in the FA Cup in the late 1950's!

Tried to get one of our lads sent off one game didn’t he, Wilks maybe? Pretended he’d been head butted.

Thanks for the amazing responses.

Having done the most important thing of the night namely to set the alarm on my phone for 9-30 so I could pause the football to make Mrs Coleman her cup of tea with honey -  missing that might mean being referred to the beth din (that bit is a joke by the way)

I was watching the football live - I paused the football then after the tea restated it and the intended answer to quiz turned up. Then Watkins came on and I had the idea for the thread - i had just started it when Watkins my   answer to the thread  scored - hence the words "timing is everything"

I can never ever forget that day Mandeville came on at Exeter in November when we were losing 1-0 against a team who had not even won a home game all season - they were languishing near the bottom and yes Watkins was on the field

https://www.skysports.com/football/news/14728/10654351/exeter-1-3-doncaster-mandeville-inspires-rovers-win

Exeter 1-3 Doncaster: Mandeville inspires Rovers win

Liam Mandeville made a stunning contribution after coming on as a substitute with a goal and two assists in Doncaster Rovers' 3-1 Sky Bet League Two win at Exeter City.

Mandeville only entered the fray in the 69th minute, but he brought Doncaster level within three minutes after Exeter had taken the lead through Reuben Reid's 51st-minute penalty.

Reid smashed the ball home after David Wheeler had been brought down by goalkeeper Marko Mariso inside the penalty box.

The lead lasted until the 72nd minute when James Coppinger stood the ball up to the back post and Mandeville headed in off the underside of the crossbar as Exeter seemingly froze after going in front.

Reid did see a shot well saved by Mariso, but Doncaster went in front on 78 minutes when a low cross from Mandeville was turned in by John Marquis from six yards.

And Mandeville turned provider in the 90th minute when he slipped the ball to Marquis to slip the ball past James Hamon

As I have said many times 69th  minute sub Mandeville turned our season around that day - when he came on he really did have go at Marquis literally (Fergie as we know didn't like his cockiness)   Marquis as i keep saying won us all a lot of money as he ended up joint top scorer and don't forget my mate Omar Bogle finally passed his driving test and moved on transfer deadline day (as I predicted) out of the division to give Marquis a clear run. Littlle did we know then he would eventually sign for us of all teams

if  someone watched that game and was told to guess which player was to go on and score the winner to get us in the final which player do you think they would pick.

Which makes you think what Mandy could have achieved in his career but for ......

AS i said I was watching behind time and as I typed the header I had no idea Watkins was going to score by the time i got to the second line he had scored !!!

Judging by your responses  maybe half the squad have played against us

Also, wouldn't Declan Rice have played against us in the West Ham cup game a few years back?

He didn't play. Not sure whether he was injured or rested but wasn't in the squad.

I make it 10. 7 have been mentioned but there's also:

Konsa - played for Charlton against us
Henderson - Shrewsbury
Ramsdale - AFC Wimbledon. Marquis was sent off after a bit of handbags in the area with him

he doesn't show on the high  lowlights
i missed the first few minutes of that match so was right pi$$ed off and naming our best player on the bent was ridiculous

Moyes made eight changes from the victory against West Brom with midweek matchwinner Michail Antonio and the only forward at the club one of several to drop to the bench.

Doncaster had won seven of their previous eight games and boss Darren Moore picked a strong XI, but they had no answer to the hosts' firepower.

No he didn't he had that Brighton loanee on the bench forget his name and when he did come on he was going past WesT ham players easily as he set up a can't miss chance for OCK-what's his name

Game had gone in 90 seconds v West Ham, plus Butler had a mare. Taylor Richards the fella left out, I thought he'd kick on after us and make it big time but he seems to have gone quiet.

Rice an unused sub for that one.

Yes, Herbert. He was 17 at the time, and they beat us that day, 2-0.

I'm showing my age a bit, but I was at the game. However, I was only a kid. You had to have responsible adults with you at the time, so I got BB and Wolfie to take me in.

Not many players can say they played against us for Chelsea,we've rarely played them.

I have a programme from that game with Jimmy Greaves autograph on it. Peter Brabrook signed it as well.

Not many would remember Peter Brabrook unless of a certain age but famous of course in his day

Possibly I was there but I'll never know.

Yes he did.
It was Wilks happened in front of the West Stand.
Bit of a stand off and Wilks put his face into Toneys.
Toney then went down like he'd been shot.
He was pathetic!
Wilks got a yellow card.
I think Toney was substituted later on in the match but I may be wrong>

Was that the same game we won 3-1 and Sadlier scored after their goalie humped the ball out so their player could get treatment despite already being off the pitch.?  I remember their supposed star player madison squealing like a stuck pig in front of the dugouts for a nothing foul.

Didn’t like Toney at all back then - talented player but shite attitude.  Perhaps he’s matured since as he’s done ok since.!  Taking a penalty in such a critical shoot out without looking at the ball takes some guts..

Everything in that post is correct, IDM. It just never happened for Toney whenever he played against us. In the following season, when Moore was manager, we tonked them at their place 3-0, and Toney never got a kick.

Got sent off at the keepmoat

I don’t think he did, and not according to Transfermarkt either. 2 cameo appearances for Wigan & Scunthorpe, 3 starts and 1 sub appearance for Posh. No goals, no assists, 2 yellow cards.
